DEAR SOUL, WILL YOU DIE WITHOUT JESUS THE SAVIOR? There you sit, dear soul, not in the congregation where the Lord's people are gathered to worship - you seldom if ever attend where the gospel is preached and God is publically worshipped in the assembly of his saints. There you sit in your living room or out on your front porch reading this bulletin, and you are suddenly confronted with this most serious question, "Will you die without Jesus the Savior?" I address you as "DEAR SOUL" because Christ said your soul is worth more than the whole world. Not because you are good or have any merit of your own - you are a sinner. You have sinned against a holy God, against the Son of God, against the Spirit of God, against light that God has given you. You have sinned ignorantly and willfully. No, you are not a dear soul because you are good but because God has made you and given you your being, and upheld you in this world all your days. You are a dear soul because you will soon stand before the judge of all the earth and give an account of your life you have lived on this earth. You are a dear soul because you will never cease to be. You are a dear soul because you have the capacity, though Jesus Christ, to spend eternity with him in heaven, or you have the capacity - as no beast has, to spend eternity in hell being punished for your sins. You will spend eternity, either in heaven with Jesus the Lord and Savior, and glorified saints, and elect angels, or you will spend eternity in the lake of fire. You will spend eternity in the praises of the dear Son of God who redeemed you or you will spend eternity cursing yourself that you lived and died "without Jesus the Savior." And that is the bad news; you are without Jesus the Savior! Oh, dear soul, just stop and think of that. What a panic you would be in if you were without any food in your house to eat, or if suddenly you found yourself without any water to drink or to wash in? How would you feel if you were without one penny to your name? If you had bills due, and yet you could not scrape together two cents to pay them? What if you were without one friend in this world? What if there was not one person you could call or visit who would talk to you and befriend you? What if you were without one family member? No dad, or mom, or brother, or ever a distant cousin? O, think of all things you could be without, and none of them are fit to be compared to this one Person you are at this very moment without - Jesus the Savior! If you are without Christ, you are without God. If you are without Christ you are without life eternal. If you are without Christ you are without hope. O, dear soul, think upon this until it makes you afraid and breaks your heart. But don't stop there, let the whole question sink deep into your heart; "Will you die without Jesus the Savior?" Will you lay this bulletin aside and never give this question another thought and die in you sins? God forbid that you do such a thing! "Why will you die?" Do you want to die in your sins? Do you want to spend eternity under the awful wrath of a just God? You are standing at this moment on the very brink of eternity. The next step you take may plunge you into everlasting misery. If you die without a saving interest in Jesus the Savior you will experience the second death from which there is no deliverance. Here is the good news, dear soul; Do this and live; at this very instant, ask God to give you grace to believe in his Son Jesus Christ who died and lives to save sinners. At once, give up yourself - surrender yourself to him who is able to save you at once and to the uttermost - completely and forevermore. Right now you are lost and right now Jesus Christ has the power to save you. Don't think about being saved tomorrow but think about being saved right now. Jesus is a mighty Savior and he is able to save you right now while you are sitting and reading this bulletin -right now! Everything else will come later but right now you must be saved and there is no other who can save you but "Jesus the Savior." -Bruce Crabtree |
