“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the LORD!”

There is a woe upon us, if we do not seek the Lord’s counsel and trust our own strength. If we do not walk by faith, then we’ll make a mess. We’ll ruin our lives with needless pain. Let us examine ourselves clearly, and see if we are in the path. Let’s purge ourselves and do good.

The Christian is in repentance: he doesn’t preach the Bible without changing daily from the flesh to the Spirit. He needs constant guidance, and God gives it by His word. He reproves and corrects us. He shows us the good way, so that we have peace and maximize ourselves in this world! He pulls us back from selfish fleshly counsel and causes us to trust in the Lord, guarding our tongues and speaking uprightly. “Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit [Ps 34:12-13].” He causes us to believe that His way is best, so we don’t make bad situations worse. We teach our children to obey, and yet we love them. Wives submit without fear, and husbands zealously seek their good, “giving honor to the wife, as the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered [1 Pet 3:7].” God’s way is peace, and unbelief is not, so we choose.

Let’s take His counsel on the gospel: We are justified by faith, we live by the Spirit, and God’s will must be done [Luke 22:42]. Let’s walk uprightly and enjoy the benefits of obedience. Let’s bow ourselves under hardship, learning from Job to never murmur. Let’s see him suffer and be a good friend, with patience, even when he sins with his lips. “To him who is afflicted, kindness should be shown by his friend, even though he forsakes the fear of the Almighty [Job 6:14].” Let’s consider our brothers and maintain relationships. Let’s be authentic truth tellers, putting the people’s benefit before our own belly. Let’s increasingly be WHO WE ARE in Christ. “And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness [Eph 4:24].” Let the old man die and mortify it. Put the flesh to bed and quiet his raging. Let God rule you willingly [Col 3:15].
