In the late 1960s and 1970s a debate went on as to the nature of the Chrismatic movement and spritual gifts. One of the men involved in this discussion was Dr Martyn Lloyd Jones, whose comments lead to disagreements that went on for decades. I am not blaming the Doctor for that. In fact we need to re-open the very same discussion in our own time. It is really important that we discuss this issue and the doctrines surrounding it. It is not a matter of historical record, but of living theology. The benefit of discussing this, even where we disagree, can be great including encouraging all Christians to be more dedicated to seeking out sound doctrine and to have confidence in God's remarkable blessings for his people.
I have had some discussions with Nate Hoover, a Christian church planter from San Francisco. The video link here is a dialogue between us about the relevance of spiritual gifts today. I want to thank Nate for the gracious way in which he has handled the matter. I hope that the video will be a blessing to all who watch it. It consists of Nate's doctrinal challenge to me and my response.
I hope to have further recorded discussions of this nature in days to come.
Those who have questions about Nate's ministry are, no doubt welcome to ask him questions.
