I cannot help having an uneasy feeling that Piers Morgan has, whether he realises it or not, supported the principle of genocide against Christians. You can see what I mean by viewing my previous blog entry.
At any rate, the best opportunity for a personal reply came at a conference of the IFTCC which took place in Hungary in November last year.
As the IFTCC describes itself as the home of ex-homosexual people, and as I have not myself ever been a part of that group, I wondered what to expect. In fact I had a superb weekend and learned much. Persons who wish to know more about the ministry of the IFTCC can look up their website or YouTube page.
At the Hungary conference I met many vibrant Christians and enjoyed excellent fellowship. These IFTCC people, I said, are serious about doing good to others. They are deeply concerned to demonstrate that they back up their actions with properly evidenced science. IFTCC stands for the International Federation for Therapeutic and Counselling Choice. They have excellent resources to back up their work.
The point that I am making in the video is that, far rather than being a man going around looking for people to stone to death, as Morgan asserts, I believe that we cannot love people by lying to them. As Christians we are called to love all people, including those with whom we have strong disagreements. The truth is that a long period of "transition" does not, nor can it ever, lead to a transition from one sex to another. If we speak about loving others, that love falls at the first hurdle as soon as we say that a person can change sex. Love cannot thrive in a sea of lies.
Christians who argue that it is loving to go along with what others want, in order to avoid offending people, need to pray for grace for a stronger testimony, from the one who said "I am the truth". I would also add that I will do the same as, I come up against these issue often and, but for that grace, I will certainly fall.
