Jonah (Part 5) Blessings brethren... those of you who follow me on Instagram already know this, but for you that are not, I’ve been sharing some principles from our Nesting With Jesus readings in Jonah. I created an IGTV Channel and have been uploading some devotional videos from Jonah. If you can or when you can come join me on Instagram and prayerfully the videos will bless and help you. Link provided to my IGTV feed.
When our perception is off... our perspectives will be off. When our perspectives are off, our priorities, our purpose, our pursuits and our practical power for the right kind of living is off because they all follow close behind our perspectives. Everything is off when what we perceive is off.
Jonah was off, because his perspectives were off, and he needed to be engaged by the God who was more concerned with his holiness than him being happy in the wrong kinds of things. Does God do this? If you listen to the voices of our society, and the modern day self-love memes that they push down your throat, you’d have to say no. But if you’ll listen to God, and His revelation of Himself, you’ll find a different story.
Matter of fact, we are taught in God's word that He [God] often SEES the need to providentially BLESS us with the life changing PROVISIONS of ADVERSITY and AFFLICTION.
I KNOW... you probably read that twice, but I did refer to TROUBLE as a provision of God. Why? Because He speaks of it as such. He speaks of them as bread and water... (Isaiah 30:20) two essentials that we NEED to sustain physical life are paralleled with two essentials NEEDED (adversity (things that are hard and difficult) and affliction (things that hurt, trouble, wound)) for keeping us humble and in need of a Deliverer in this beautiful but harsh world. King David said: “Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now I keep Your word.” (Psalm 119:67) “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Your statutes.” (Psalm 119:71) “I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are right, and that in faithfulness You have afflicted me.” (Psalm 119:75)
I think I’ll stick with His story and throw away the concepts of our self-centered and self-love society.
