He governs, guards, guides and guarantees His own kingdom.
“These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no ones opens” (Revelation 3:7).
Older Testament reference:
“And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.
And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it” (Isaiah 22:22-25).
War strategies work for a world without God... but they are a double jeopardy for the people who MUST seek first the kingdom of God and His ways. Not only will your plan fail... but your failure to rely on other means will get you out of favor with God.
"Commit to the Lord, right now, with all that you are and all that you have. It's important to not get stuck in what you know, or what you experienced yesterday, and don't hold on to what you understand about the situation, your view is limited, but He sees it all. Seek Him, in everything you do, and ask Him what to do next and then trust what He says. Yes, trust Him with everything, with the big and the small, the significant and insignificant, the natural and supernatural, and in everything you do, He will give you clarity, direction and confidence to keep walking, worshipping and working for Him." (Proverbs 3:5-6).
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
“Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:6-7)
Following your gut and combat instinct... based on experience and logic seems to make sense at the moment... but how foolish the man is who’s been told by God to lean not on His own understanding and logic, but to trust and acknowledge Him in ALL his ways, and then He will be guarded, guided and guaranteed wisdom and clarity on what to do next.
Taking matters in our own hands is the first of many mistakes that are sure to follow. The world can and does... with little to no consequences other than they will reap what the sow. But the child of God is dealt with entirely different because he is to deal with life entirely different than the rest of the world. This is why the servant of God must be consistently transformed for fear of being conformed to a world around them.
Logic ain’t logical for the loyal and royal servant of Jesus... that’s seeking and trusting and following His lead.
He sets up and supports His kingdom and those that serve it.
Lean in a follow the lead of His voice.
Your way... was IN the sea! I love this. This is what the Psalmist penned:
"Your WAY was in the sea, Your PATH in the great waters, and Your footsteps WERE NOT KNOWN. You LED Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron” (Psalms 77:19-20)
Glory... Not around it, not over it and not under it... but IN IT!
If there’s a way, man can make a way... It may take him a while but if he can go around it, without God, he will. And if he can go over it, without Him, he will. If he can go under it, without Him, he will. But man cannot go IN the sea or great waters, ON dry ground, without the presence and power of God Almighty.
God’s way was in the sea... Today, God’s way is in Christ Jesus, and any other effort around it, or over it, or under it, is not His way and He will not have any part in it. His way was IN the sea for them coming out of Egypt, therefore, He had to work the great miracle for them. Today, His way is IN Jesus and only He can work the miracle of salvation, by grace, through faith, for everyone who believes and entrust life to His finished work.
Think about it like this... a journey into the unknown is such an adventure, especially when we're traveling, a lighted path of faith, with our faithful Light-bearer in the lead! He not is the way but He makes a way when there seems no way.
And as Psalm 25:10 teaches us... "All the path[s] of the Lord are mercy and truth to such as keep His ways..."
Where He leads, He always meets our needs... no necessarily how we would have done it, if it were up to us, but thankfully it’s not, for His way is always the best way.
