In Mark 4:23-25. Jesus said, "If anyone has ears to hear, he should listen!” Then He said to them, “Pay attention [lit. "see", to contemplate, perceive] what you hear. By the measure you use, it will be measured and added to you. For to the one who has, it will be given, and from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away” (HCSB). First, we should listen to and read the Word of God. Yet how many people do not do so daily, or even weekly. Secondly, we need to earnestly seek to understand the Word of God. Pray for enlightenment. The more you read Scripture, the more you will understand. Next, apply Scripture to daily living by means of obedience and exercising faith. Knowing God's Word, and acting upon it, has been a tremendous source of strength and comfort for me. Finally, Jesus warns that if you do not hear and use God's Word in your life, it will be taken from you. Amos 8:11 says, "Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord GOD, "That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the LORD." |
