Chapter 38: Why Jesus Left
(John 14:1-3)

Have any of y'all ever wanted your dad or mom to stay home instead of going to work? Maybe they had to go to work one day and you didn't want them to leave so you said “No, don't go, I want you to stay!” You might even have pulled on their shirt. If so they probably replied with something of this sort back to you “I know you don't want me to go, but if I don't go I cannot get my work done, and if I cannot get my work done I cannot give you special things for us to enjoy. But if you let me go, I’ll get my work done and I’ll come back.”

Well in John 14:1-3 we see the disciples felt the same way about Jesus leaving. He had been telling them He was going but they didn't want Him to leave. And we see He told them the same sort of thing, if He leaves He will get the work of salvation done, and if He get’s that work done He will come back to give them the New Creation to enjoy together. Listen to it yourself (Read John 14:1-3).

What we see in this story then is why Jesus is not here right now, why He left. In another way though, what we see in this story is another reason why we should believe in Jesus, because he left to get the work of salvation done so that if we believe in Him we will be with Him in the New Creation and enjoy it together with Him. So trust in Him, depend on Him to save you, put your hope in the work He did for you.
