John on the Bottom Shelf
An Exposition of the Gospel of John for Children Chapter 33: The Words Jesus Remembered to Tell Us
(John 12:44-50)
I know that some of you are getting ready to dress up as characters soon because halloween is coming up. And do you know what character I was thinking about this week? Dory. I was thinking about that time she had to remember those words written on those goggles. Who knows what they were? P. Sherman 42 Wallaby Way, Sidney. And why did she need to remember those words? They needed them in order to find Nemo of course. If she remembered them, Nemo could be saved. If she did not remember them, Nemo would remain lost.
And what I want to talk to you about this morning are “The Words Jesus Remembered to Tell Us”. In John 12:44-50 we see the last words Jesus ever spoke to the crowds. And we see that He spoke them very loud. It says “Jesus cried out” v.44. The reason He said these words so loud was these were the words He had to remember to tell us. And why did He need to remember to tell us these words? Because…listen to me. If you believe these words, you can be rescued from death and given eternal life with Him in the new creation. If you do not believe these words, you will be ruined by death and given eternal death apart from Him outside of the new creation. (Read the words). This is why we sing songs that say things like
Come every soul by sin oppressed,
there’s mercy with the Lord.
And He will surely give you rest,
by trusting in His word.
Only trust Him, only trust Him,
Only trust Him now.
He will save you, He will save you,
He will save you now.
So believe in His words. Let’s pray...
