Last year’s Good Friday service was a great time of worship and unity.
Most of Christ Church folk are first generation Christians. This means that your family doesn’t have a plethora of established Christian traditions. It’s your responsibility to establish them for your children.
Not unlike getting in shape physically, to get in shape spiritually one must commit to habits. Our habits determine our spiritual shape. They shape us. Good Friday is a great habit.
Worship always involves calendar and schedule. In other words, where your time is, there your heart will be also. So, whether you are Muslim, or a devotee of March Madness, your worship has a rhythm and timing to it. So, mark time by the age old Christian calendar.
To say “yes” to Good Friday is to say “no” to something else. So, say “yes” to giving Christ the worship for which he is worthy. Consider all that you say “no” to for your business or for your diet or for your biological family. You don’t do this out of legalism or guilt, its just priorities. So, consider making Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday a priority like that.
You can bring the kids! There will be no long sermon. It will last about 30 minutes. There will mostly be loud singing and some short prayer and bible reading. Its nothing a typical toddler couldn’t stand in the aisle for.
Right after You can still indulge in one of Acadiana’s greatest habits: eating out with friends!
