This resolution of Daily United Prayer is based on An Humble Attempt, originally put forward by Jonathan Edwards in 1748. Its design is to encourage God's people in the duty of united extraordinary prayer; setting aside some time every day to pray for the revival of His church and the advancement of Christ's kingdom in our homes, in our churches, in our nation, and in the world.
"Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually." Psalm 52:1.
This was my Psalm this morning. The world is raging on. Mighty man is boasting many things. His tongue is devising all manner of mischief, harm, hurt, and damage. "Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully." Isn't that the truth? Just look at social media these days. Christians can often be the worst in using their tongue to cut and tear down. Why do we do this? This is diametrically opposed to the prayer of Christ Himself in John 17 when He prayed repeatedly that "they may be one, even as we are one."
It's wicked and it's the devil's work.
But thanks be to God that "the goodness of God endureth continually." Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Let us rejoice in the fact that the shout of a king is among us and that we are on the victory side. It's not through the world's methods of deceit and mischief either. It's by God's GOODNESS. The goodness of God leads men and women to repentance (Rom 2:4).
I came across this testimony of a doctor who used to perform abortions. There is no visually graphic elements in the video but his testimony is extremely compelling especially given his own personal loss experienced with his own child.
