World’s richest men added billions to their fortunes last year as others struggled
The pandemic has forced untold hardships onto many Americans, with tens of millions of families now reporting that they don’t have enough to eat and millions more out of work on account of layoffs and lockdowns.

America’s wealthiest, on the other hand, had a very different kind of year: Billionaires as a class have added about $1 trillion to their total net worth since the pandemic began. Musk has quintupled his net worth since January, according to estimates put together by Bloomberg, adding $132 billion to his wealth and vaulting him to the No. 2 spot among the world’s richest with a fortune of about $159 billion. Bezos’s wealth has grown by roughly $70 billion over the same period, putting his net worth ...

This rich-vs-poor cliché is a longstanding, tiresome Populist line one hears even from Trump sympathizers, but long before COVID, statistics have consistently shown Americans as fiscally irresponsible, big-spending debt addicts who do not plan for hard times. Dupes of retail propaganda they may be, but no one forced them to borrow and spend. Per Aesop's Fable, Americans are grasshoppers, not ants.

S. Korea also has a consumer debt problem.

This video is an excellent presentation of what they are doing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1-0XKYAZII&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR1OpWygDzdqGHHsO930CPB2bSa46FiBeDQEchND47KN_kUbSugYOChsdeo

This pandemic serves a purpose, part of which is considering certain businesses 'non essential', and causing them to go belly up. Then the bigger corporations like Amazon, WalMart, etc. can move in and take that share of sales to themselves. They are gobbling up the middle class for a reason....

Wish I could post memes on here. There's a great one about 600 dollars being just enough to buy the materials required for a guillotine.

I wonder what Jim/Lincoln thinks of billionaire crony capitalists? Mostly they do fund leftist causes and candidates, so I can’t imagine him objecting very strongly.

The irony is that most of these "rich" billionaire Americans support Socialism and refuse to disperse their "fair share" to the masses. What hypocrites!!! The other irony is that the majority of the masses are blind to their hypocrisy. There is no such thing as a poor Socialist politician.
