The exodus of families from government schools continues to accelerate nationwide, sparking panic among the education establishment that has so badly failed America’s children. And the trends are not just because of COVID, contrary to government claims.
Now, public-school bigwigs are freaking out about what the plunge in enrollment means for their bloated taxpayer-funded budgets. In short: The government-“education” gravy train is about to get a lot smaller as sensible families flee to the safe sanctuary of homeschooling and private schools....
Excellent question. Here's the problem... Lack of access and influence over homeschooled children has the potential to lead to new restrictions and complications for homeschooling families. When we were a small number, few noticed and no one cared. Now that we've grown larger, we will gain more attention and not the kind we'd like.
HSLDA with many others has fought to establish homeschool freedom of sorts state to state. They have a tough road ahead to maintain what gains have been achieved, I'm afraid.
My family is a few years from being thru to college. But what about those with younger children? What about our children's children?

Whomever Trump appoints, Im sure it'll be pro family pro God.
Unfortunately, for all of us outside of USA, homeschooling will be completely banned once the state sees people exercising too much liberty. The rest of the world is already under a Biden/Harris style rule!

Well the fact that so many parents are, in fact, teaching their kids at home now blows that theory right out of the water, doesn't it? It's not that they think they can't. It's that their covetousness means they won't. Government schools are no place under ANY circumstances for a child from a Christian home. Ever.
That's a little harsh in my book. The state I live in is so expensive it's not funny. If you have a $20/hour job you're just making ends meet to support one person. Our utilities are the highest in the country. There's a huge difference between being covetous versus trying to keep your head above water.
Another awful factor now with public (state) schools, but even with private schools, not only with the political correctness /evolution / LGBTQI+ / Transgender / sex education / interfaith / secular humanism / BLM anti-racism fanaticism / environmentalism, and the threat of school and public authorities interfering with parental rights, is the whole dreadful COVID 19 regime in these public (and private ones), with compulsory all day mask wearing, tape, one way systems, not allowed to socialise with others, no concerts, no organised sports events, (except under very strict conditions), sitting at exam style desks, wide open windows in the middle of winter, over zealous teachers who severely punish any child who breaks the COVID 19 rules, sending a child home with any sign of a cold oir snuffle and then isolating the whole class for 10 (previously 14) days, and now mass weekly testing to be introduced into secondary and later into primary schools. Dreadful!! What an awful atmosphere to be educated in!! Home schooling for as many as can do it!!
This whole virus/lockdown/mask/vaccine/social distance is a joke to them. "Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and Representative Wendy Ullman (D-Bad People) were caught on a hot mic giggling about the “political theater” they were about to partake in at a press conference. Wolf is heard telling Ullman he’s going to take off his mask to speak while Ullman responds that she’s going to keep hers on for the cameras to make sure people see her in it. “I’m waiting so we can do a little political theater,” she says, laughing. “So it’s on camera!” - https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/megan-fox/2020/09/29/busted-on-hot-mic-pa-gov-wolf-and-elected-crony-laughing-about-masks-as-political-theater-n986251?fbclid=IwAR2_W4WjJCTpjDkfUQrgGOAJtAYY3Cizt9REKO0GOHV8aTDKqgG6dXQLHQw

"Fears of a mass exodus of retiring teachers during COVID-19 may have been overblown"
But covid-19 still is a factor. Soon there will be a new Secretary of Education who is pro-public school, and there just not enough people think they can keep up a passable lifestyle without both parents working.
If your kids are in the system, GET THEM OUT NOW. The education establishment is catching on that they're bleeding. First thing they're gonna do is make it harder for your kids to get out. It'll be much harder to get people back into the system once they've come out, so they will put every effort to keep you in. Mark my words: in the liberal areas, and even some more conservative ones, they are going to crack down on alternate education and try to make it more trouble than it's worth to Alt-School. Look for licensing and regulatory requirements, and even possible truancy violations.
