Cuban authorities destroy church, arrest pastor who filmed demolition
Authorities in the city of Santiago de Cuba demolished a church that has long been a target of the communist regime and arrested a pastor who streamed the demolition live on social media, a human rights group has reported.
According to the London-based nonprofit Christian Solidarity Worldwide, Cuban State Security brought heavy machinery and bulldozers to the Assemblies of God Church in the Abel Santamaria neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba last Friday and destroyed the church.
CSW added that the church has been under threat since 2015 even though the denomination is one of the largest religious groups in Cuba and is legally recognized by the government....
As difficult, Brothers, as life is here in the US and UK, dear brothers, for us Christians, our brethern in Cuba experience the worst. The horrible conditions for the average Cuban are something we simply don't understand. The desperation is enormous. Yes, in Christ there is a peace beyond understanding. But such difficult conditions are exceedingly difficult. May the Lord relieve the suffering of the Cuban people and especially His people to His glory.
I read stories like this from places like Cuba, China, Iran, northern Nigeria, rural areas in India and Pakistan, and even worse situations in places like North Korea, and praise God for these faithful believers. Praise God we do not have violence and physical attacks on believers or church buildings, at least not those sponsored by the state, here in Britain or USA. However, under the guise of a medical emergency, churches here in Britain have been completely closed at times, and at other times, if open it is under very strict conditions, and every aspect of their life, ministry and worship is being controlled by the government. I have not been able to attend a normal service since March, and governments in ‚ÄúDemocratic‚ÄĚ countries in Europe, USA, Australia and other Western countries regard churches as ‚Äúnon essential‚ÄĚ that can be closed,or severely restricted, under the guise of ‚Äúsaving lives‚ÄĚ. Yet churches have done all that is required of them and more. This is a very dangerous precedent The state should not be directing our worship, it is to be directed by God and His Holy Word.
