Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Champion Of Gender Equality, Dies At 87
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the demure firebrand who in her 80s became a legal, cultural and feminist icon, died Friday. The Supreme Court announced her death, saying the cause was complications from metastatic cancer of the pancreas.
The court, in a statement, said Ginsburg died at her home in Washington surrounded by family. She was 87.
"Our nation has lost a justice of historic stature," Chief Justice John Roberts said. "We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her, a tireless and resolute champion of justice."...

"The Holy See is the universal government of the Catholic Church and operates from Vatican City State, a sovereign, independent territory. The Pope is the ruler of both Vatican City State and the Holy See. The Holy See, as the supreme body of government of the Catholic Church, is a sovereign juridical entity under international law. The United States and the Holy See consult and cooperate on international issues of mutual interest, including human rights, peace and conflict prevention, poverty eradication and development, environmental protection, and inter-religious understanding. Since his inauguration, Pope Francis has acted as a global advocate for human dignity and justice, placing particular emphasis on the moral imperative of caring for the poor and marginalized. The United States and the Holy See enjoy a positive relationship that serves to amplify a global message of peace, freedom, and justice. The United States and the Holy See work together on shared priorities, such as promoting religious freedom and combating human trafficking." (state.gov/u-s-relations)

It doesn't mean the Vatican in control of the Supreme Court. In 1960 when Kennedy ran for president it was falsely stated that Kennedy would be doing what the Vatican stated.

In February of 2016, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died at his ranch in Texas.
It was also a presidential election year, but while Republicans controlled the Senate, Democrats controlled the White House via Barack Obama.
Obama nominated Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, but nine months out from the election, McConnell argued that Americans should get to vote on a potential replacement through the upcoming presidential election.
He refused to hold a vote to confirm Garland, and the nomination went nowhere.
Asked in 2019 if he would replace a justice in 2020 if the same scenario arose, McConnell said:
"Oh, we'd fill it."

Yes, for the left wing of the Democrats, it would have been better if she had left when Obama still had a majority in the Senate to work with.

Acts 20 (KJV) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ²³ Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. ²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace Yes we are vexed with what the other world does. "The sins of others work for good to the godly—as they produce holy sorrow. God's people weep for what they cannot reform. "Rivers of tears run down my eyes, because they keep not your law" (Psalm 119. 136). David was a mourner for the sins of the times; his heart was turned into a spring—and his eyes into rivers! Wicked men make merry with sin. "When you do evil, then you rejoice" (Jer. 11:15). But the godly are weeping doves; they grieve for the oaths and blasphemies of the age. The sins of others, like spears, pierce their souls! This grieving for the sins of others is good. It shows a childlike heart, to resent with sorrow the injuries done to our heavenly Father. It also shows a Christ-like heart. "He was grieved for the hardness of their hearts" (Mark 3:5).
The Lord takes special notice of these tears. He likes it well— that we should weep when His glory suffers. It argues more grace to grieve for the sins of others, than for our own. We may grieve for our own sins—out of fear of hell; but to grieve for the sins of others—is from a principle of love to God. These tears drop as water from roses—they are sweet and fragrant, and God puts them in His bottle! "You keep track of all my sorrows." (Thos. Watson; 'All Things for Good).
Nina Totenberg wrote: .... I interviewed RBG over the years. Suffice to say dozens and dozens. My personal favorite was a long interview I did with her and Justice Antonin Scalia before an audience of about 1,500 in Washington. I loved it especially because these two ideological opposites were such good friends, and in that interview, they came to play.
They fought over ideology, respectfully, laughed lovingly about experiences shared, and let the audience see how two brilliant justices of different views could love each other despite those differences....

Her death throws a wrench in the Dem. Party's plans, Obama thinks Ginsburg's alleged wish should be honored, that's laughable. The left are fuming at her death - https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/09/f-ruth-bader-ginsburg-f-not-retiring-obama-leftists-react-rbgs-death/ Shows you how 'compassionate' the left are when it comes to their own....
A little more clarity on what happened four years ago. McConnell chose not to allow the nomination of Garland because the majority party in the Senate was opposite that of the sitting President. According to an article by CNBC from July 2018 "Schumer has argued that the Senate should wait to vote on a new justice until after November’s midterm elections, when Democrats have an outside chance of taking a majority in the chamber and blocking the president’s choice."
To quote ex-President Obama "Elections have consequences." Those who stand for righteousness should know that very well. I would be more happy if all 9 Justices were Conservative.
