Joel Osteen’s Online-Only Service Breaks Viewership Record
Joel Osteen keeps attracting parishioners to his megachurch — even when no one is allowed to attend service there in person due to the spreading coronavirus pandemic.

This past weekend, Lakewood Church and Joel Osteen Ministries reached “close to” 4.63 million people online, according to the group’s in-house digital manager. That tally, which is not a final number, marks a new record across social channels for Joel’s giant congregation.

Beware of false teachers and be ready to defend the faith. I wonder how many of his followers are true believers born again by the Holy Spirit of God.

Maybe it's time for Joel to write a new book. How about one titled "Your Best Social Distancing Now"

As Joel & many others with in his circle have another Jesus through another gospel message!

No evangelism that omits the message of repentance can properly be called the gospel, for sinners can’t come to Jesus Christ apart from a radical change of heart, mind, & will. That demands a spiritual crisis leading to a complete turnaround & ultimately a wholesale transformation. It’s the only kind of conversion Scripture recognizes.

John MacArthur; Our ideas of evangelism cannot indict Jesus; rather, He must judge contemporary methods of evangelism. Modern evangelicalism is preoccupied with decisions, statistics, aisle-walking, gimmicks, prefabricated presentations, pitches, emotional manipulation, & even intimidation. Its message is a cacophony of easy-believism & simplistic appeals. Unbelievers are told that if they invite Jesus into their hearts, accept Him as personal Savior, or believe the facts of the gospel, that’s all there is to it. The aftermath is appalling failure, as seen in the lives of multitudes who have professed faith in Christ with no consequent impact of their behavior. Who knows how many people are deluded into believing they are saved when they are not

The "Prosperity gospel"
Mammon is a very popular god!!!
In a fallen reprobate world.

Interesting fact that coronavirus supports (underpins)? the prosperity gospel???

"The prosperity gospel is an umbrella term for a group of ideas — popular among charismatic preachers in the evangelical tradition — that equate Christian faith with material, and particularly financial, success. It has a long history in American culture, with figures like Osteen and Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, glamorous, flashily-dressed televangelists whose Disneyland-meets-Bethlehem Christian theme park, Heritage USA, was once the third-most-visited site in America.

A 2006 Times poll found that 17 percent of American Christians identify explicitly with the movement, while 31 percent espouse the idea that “if you give your money to God God will bless you with more money.” A full 61 percent agree with the more general idea that “God wants people to be prosperous.”

exactly what's done is done. With Nearly 3 months to prepare for this, you can't blame Bill Gates anymore.

With that said, Osteen is known as a motivational speaker, it's a reputation he rightfully earned, his place is known to give comfortable words to relieve worldly anxiety.

agree or disagree with him, he worked hard to earn this reputation.

What are you known for? Is your pastor/elders approachable? What is the reputation of your church? Joel Osteens congregation tithes a lot of money to him, what percentage of your church tithes? Don't get jealous, get repentant.

Mr. P, would you please stop cross-posting your spam about Bill Gates? Even if it’s true, which is extremely unlikely, what are we supposed to do about it?

Absolutely tragic!! While the good solid churches have to close down, and very well, some of them are able to do live-streaming (though now in Britain, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, certain states of the USA, India, Jordan, and even Israel, amongst other nations where there is a complete lockdown, or something approaching one, even this may become virtually impossible, unless the pastor sits at home with his computer, and at least some of his congregants might have a compatible computer or mobile device, or access to an extremely good website), but many have not, (my own church does not livestream, and as far as know home based services or sermons are not now even being recorded or uploaded), these wolves in sheep’s clothing, may well be preaching in empty large stadiums or at home, and millions tune in to have their ears tickled!!

I really do wish that your President in the USA, would switch off a certain female “spiritual adviser”, and send her packing, because it is people like this that atheists and sceptics love listening to so that they can gain fuel for their attacks on Christianity and the real true Biblical church!!

The true church should not have been unilaterally closed down, but merely required to observe sensible precautions I have listed elsewhere, and past

This is disheartening if "'close to' 4.63 million" online viewers listened to Olsteen's message is true. Now, it will be irresponsible for me (or anyone else) to say that all of these viewers are lost for no one knows but the Lord who are truly His. Paul, in 2 Corinthians, severely chastises that assembly of believers for receiving men who he labelled as "false apostles, deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ" (2Cor 11:13). Remember in an earlier letter to this assembly Paul lamented "Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual, but as worldly - as infants in Christ" (1Cor 3:1). The point is many believers today remain spiritual infants "tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting" (Eph 4:14). They will all stand before the Lord at His judgement seat and get His "review" and reward. No one can complain if the reward they receive from Him is paltry.

Also, we must be careful of the things we view online concerning conspiracy theories. To quote Edgar Poe "Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see."
