Millennials Ditching The Doctor

More and more millennials are ditching the doctor and many don’t even have a primary care physician, according to a survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Some doctors say this could lead to people overlooking serious health issues.

“I think there’s a few reasons. I think the primary one happens to be access to care,” he said. “We found that millennials tend to want to have access to care right away, they want it immediately and they want to be able to see a doctor quickly.”

“When they feel well, they don’t want to go to the doctors, and they don’t,” he continued. “So then when they feel unwell, they’re like I want to see a doctor right away and not wait for weeks for an appointment.” ...

I am puzzled why you think I need that advice. Did I exhibit any national pride? Did I ever claim our ways are always the best?

I could give you an earful of criticism of fellow Americans, having observed certain patterns. This Irishman has some constructive examples:

#3 hit home; I remember my sister compulsively smiling at strangers while touring Europe, and was surprised that men thought she was flirting with them. For some reason, smiling for no reason is considered good manners. Churches reflect this too.

Neil. I received your mesage about the 'NHS Idol' And your protest about America's not so perfect health services.
So here is some advice from one of your favourite authors.

Quote:
“A single word indicative of doubt, that any thing, or every thing, in that country is not the very best in the world, produces an effect which must be seen and felt to be understood. If the citizens of the United States were indeed the devoted patriots they call themselves, they would surely not thus encrust themselves in the hard, dry, stubborn persuasion, that they are the first and best of the human race, that nothing is to be learnt, but what they are able to teach, and that nothing is worth having, which they do not possess.”
― (Frances Trollope, Domestic Manners of the Americans)

Thank you, Mr. Moderator. We like Jim and hope he can be permitted to play with us in your sandbox again. But we also hope that he stops seeing the world thru his liberal-colored glasses. Perhaps I'm too presuppositional, but to me, it's all about Jesus, not an earthly ruler who gains his or her reign thru the sovereignty of the Lord.

Yes he has. But historically, he has a short memory. May be that if I remove everything he's posted in the past 24 hours his memory will come back to him. Let's hope so.

The issue, Jim, isn't necessarily health coverage but quality of care. The millenials we know have coverage and access. They choose other avenues. Why? Lack of trust in the medical system and experiencing a better outcome brought them elsewhere.

Trump has nothing to do with this. Mr. Moderator, has not Jim been warned for politicizing issues to beat his anti-Trump drum?

The NHS is Britain's idol. It is as immune to reform as the CoE:

This explains the ludicrous 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, and is a subject the British press (at least) continually sneers at America about. It seems nothing has changed since Frances Trollope.

Here in the UK we are running out of GP's, Nurses and many other medical professionals.

The Government keeps telling us they are putting in more and more funding into the NHS but we continue to see it decline.
Government is all politics and no leadership.

Institutions such as Health, education, Judiciary and defense are all in decline in the UK.

Punishment for ditching the church and Bible???

Prov 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people."

Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."

I agree with no primary doctor...

I put doctors in the same category as lawyers. I don't own a big business, nor do have a ton of legal work to go through. So why would a pay a monthly payment for access to a lawyer I never use?
And its the same with a doctor. I don't have any health issues right now, I don't have any reason to get constant check ups. So why would I pay for a primary care physician if I don't need it?

The whole world is going towards a economic method in which people pay for what they need at the moment, and decide about the future when it comes...

Prepaid phone bills, "Rent to Own", and Uber are great examples of how people attempt to save money by only paying for what they need at the moment...

If you don't think you need your lawnmower any more, then give it right back via "Rent to Own". If your in the city why pay for a vehicle when it's cheaper to get one of the hundreds of taxi/Ubers available.

I believe it's a great way to do business. Buy what you need, and don't waste money on something you may not need in the future...

Actually, from the millennials we know, it has to do with cost and outcomes. Doctors are expensive and usually offer treatments that do not heal conditions but "manage" them. Instead, they are turning to homeopathy which is bringing better results at a lower cost.

At the heart of their decision is trust. I do not believe that these young people trust the doctors. It is the direct result of truth lying dead in the street as the US resembles Isaiah 59 far too closely. As the doctors they've approached have failed to help them, they've gone elsewhere.
