Government Threatens to Shut Down Christian Schools
Authorities in Canada's Alberta province are giving Christian schools a choice: Quit being Christian and teaching the truth of God's Word, or be suspended and potentially even shut down. And because the schools all take government funding at this point, odds are good that the totalitarian gender ideologues running the education bureaucracy will get their wish, absent a massive public outcry.

The Newman Report first reported on Big Brother's persecution of Christian schools and families in Alberta last year. At the time, provincial indoctrination bureaucrats were bullying the schools into promoting homosexuality, sodomy, gender confusion, fornication, masturbation, and more, in violation of Christian teaching. When schools resisted, unhinged miseducation officials exploded into a rage. Now, they are going further.

Recently, the provincial Department of “Education” in Alberta warned sixty private ...

HSLDA is definitely the place to go to get homeschooling support. I was homeschooled my whole life and count it the greatest privilege to have been given that opportunity!
I’m currently in an advanced missionary training school. It becomes more and more obvious to me that education is a medium for deliberate shaping of philosophy for whatever the subject being studied is. So I’m thankful to be able to get education that is supportive of my intended biblical worldview, not against it. My parents knew how they wanted me to be raised. Gratefully, there was no resistance to them teaching me at home. I pray for God’s grace on those who aren’t able to be in that situation. He knows the whole plan for everyone.

@buckeyes

I would love to homeschool, but my husband is against it. We both came from homeschooling families, but since our marriage he has changed his opinion on it, and wants our children in public school. This is another matter of prayer for me. There are no schools in our city that would be a safe option for my children, and currently I am forbidden to homeschool. But I have seen God answer my prayers each year up to this point to make provision for myself and my kids in this area. God is good!

Yes, that's the one. The reason I called it, "Going Down To Egypt for Help" is because throughout the sermon he repeats this phrase concerning the particular application, and it really stuck in my mind. Great message concerning CCM, revivals, ecumenism, Finneyism and so on. What a message!

Great question, YIA.

The US version Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) has an international division with links to homeschool support orgs in many other nations.

@Tasha
I can’t know your situation; but have you considered Homeschool? It is far cheaper- if you spent $600 per student per year that would more than cover what you would need. Academically, it creates the best atmosphere for children to gain a life-long love of learning and sets them up to better function in the world at large. But the best part of Homeschooling is the relationship building- both with other family members and the Lord! I’ll be praying as well.

@TB
Here in the US, we are also forced to pay for the public school. My parents Homeschooled us for 21 years out of their own pocket while also paying the local school taxes. The problem with taking government funding is best sumed up: “He who pays the piper calls the tune.” Yes, it is originally the people’s money- (Government knows no other kind) but anytime they offer it back to you, sooner or later the attached strings start to get pulled and you become a puppet. It’s just not wise, and should be avoided if possible.

Friends, if you want to be truly free, don't take government money to support your schools or ministries. If the good Lord doesn't provide, then perhaps you should "rethink" whether you're on the right course. I pray this example in Alberta will be a wake-up call to Christians everywere.

TB, when you say, “Stop being so judgmental and start praying!” don’t you realize you’re being judgmental, eh?

So many people judging Christians for taking gov funding. I wonder how many of you are aware that Albertans are forced to support public or non-Christian Catholic schools with their own money. That's not "gov money" that's being cut off! That's money that belonged to the parents in the first place who simply want to be able to use THEIR OWN MONEY ti fund their child's Christian education. Stop being so judgemental and start praying instead!

Tuition to send one child to a Christian private school in Ontario Canada is 10,000.00 per student for one year. I have 2 children in one if the schools currently being targeted here in Alberta, and one who will be starting next year, Lord willing. I don’t know why costs are this high, but I know that I do not have an extra 30,000.00 per year to spend on school for the next 12 years. Also, the schools are subject to these laws wether you take funding or not. The education minister is using the money because it’s an easy way to put pressure on our schools. Accreditation is going to be removed as well, ifor schools that are non compliant, but the funding goes first.

Christian schools can be self-supporting if they set tuition rates at the proper level and conduct fundraisers that do not dishonor God. I know of several that do this, and I’m sure there are many more.

Quite honestly, the percentage of giving in churches or to church based schools is less by the fact that church members don’t give enough to support their own church, let alone, a church based school.

1). Though no doubt technically Muslim schools and madrasahs are subject to the new Alberta law, I very much doubt if the liberals in power would actually dare to prosecute or close one down. They know jolly well that it would bring out thousands of very angry Muslims out on the streets, and would contradict their “anti-Islamophobia” policy of unlimited Muslim immigration and permitting sharia law in Muslim areas

2). No genuinely Christian private school should really receive any kind of government funding, and should refuse to take any with immediate effect.

3). The churches should rise up with a united voice and make it clear that they will not have it. It was inactivity by the churches in 1967 in Britain and in 1973 in the USA that allowed abortion to slip in as the law of the land!!
