Oz passes gay marriage law, rejects free speech safeguards

Australia’s parliament has voted to redefine marriage, striking down amendments to protect free speech and religious liberty as it did so.

Earlier today, the House of Representatives backed a Bill to introduce same-sex marriage by Liberal MP Dean Smith, after it passed through the Senate by 43 votes to 12 last week.

Same-sex weddings will be legal from early next year, after the Bill has been given Royal Assent and gone through other formalities.

I’m so sorry for you, Aussies.
I can’t find words to express how tragic it is something like this happen to such a beautiful country as yours.

I guess this means that George Takei, the sodomite Japanese actor in the first Star Trek series, can divorce his current husband (who he married in Los Angeles a while back, after California legalized same-sex marriage) if he moves to Australia.
And it also means that, if Jim Nabors had lived, he could have married his long-term companion in Australia.

There is and will be, however, a third unofficial exemption, as the Australian state authorities and LGBT crowd will not dare to touch this third group, and that is, no matter what this infamous law says, of course, no one will dare touch the Muslims or Islamic organisations and they will not be forced to conduct or go along with "gay weddings".

No secular leftist government official or LGBT activist would dare impose this on the Muslims, as they will not want thousands of angry Sharia compliant Muslims on the streets!!!

As to Australian religious revivals, I think dear Carl from Greensboro may be referring to some Billy Graham rallies that I believe were held about that time in Australia, and possibly there were some genuine converts, but most of it I suspect was very much a case of false converts that soon disappeared. Australia tragically is the land of the "Hillsong" type of Christianity, though I believe the Anglican Diocese of Sydney has an evangelical leaning. Otherwise, from what I gather it is a very radically secular country.

Apparently, only two safeguards are allowed under this infamous act.

At present, (but no doubt that will change due to pressure from apostate clergymen and of course "clergy women", as well as the LGBT lobby), truly evangelical ministers and churches in Australia will not be forced to conduct "gay weddings".

Also, something that was not allowed in my country of Britain, as the case of the Christian Islington London Borough marriage registrar found to her cost and lost her job because of it, existing Australian state marriage registrars will not be forced to conduct "gay weddings", but any new ones appointed after the law takes effect willl not enjoy this exemption and will be required to conduct such "weddings" as an integral part of their job.

However, there are no other exemptions allowed and so bakers, florists, photographers, wedding hall owners and caterers will, of course be forced to support such "weddings", or lose their business or be fined or even go to jail, and there will of course be no exemptions for Christian adoption agencies, hotels, b and b's and so on, and of course the state and public schools will be required, no doubt to teach LGBT sex education even to primary or elementary school level with no parental withdrawal rights.

So sorry for you guys across the Tasman sea from NZ. I thought the "lucky" country would have had more sense than to follow NZ into the moral sodomite abyss but unfortunately I was wrong.
We, like most of the western world, are under God's righteous judgement.

Awakening in the 80-90's???
Only if you think getting a few victims of slick supposed evangelism to raise their hand and repeat the sinners prayer is an awakening.

So now our blessings will be taken away, more things will "go wrong", more weather events will happen (that will get blamed on climate change), more Islamic Muslim incidents will get past the authorities and will become as common place as other parts of the world, more leftist policies will ease through parliament and where they called themselves the "Lucky Country", they will soon be wondering where their luck has gone.
Of course, when Christians say "no you weren't lucky, you were blessed but now as a nation you've turned your back on God so He's turned his back on you and won't here your cries in times of need or terror until we as a nation repent and turn from our sins and back to Him", then we will be blasted with all kinds of hatred.
It's kind of sad but not unexpected that we can't bring our kids up in a safe country anymore.
Many countries were wonderful places to grow up in but since the leftists got their hands on Printed Media, the Music Industry and Television, people have slowly been brainwashed to think evil is good.
I felt sick to my stomach and angry when New Zealand passed "marriage equality" (cough) and I said that now they are done for..... And a few months later, now we have done the same.
As the Bible says, we really are alien to this world because t

I don't get the spiritual awakening comment either. Australia has always had a strong rebellious undertow. Being originally a prison colony there is somewhat a lack of respect for authority yet ironically living here you would swear it was a testing ground for state control by the NWO.
If you look at some of Australia's television history you'll find they scraped the bottom of the barrel very quickly, making television shows so bad you won't see anything that bad on any free to air television station anywhere in the world today.
Musically, some dark bands (which in other countries would have been sub culture stuff) we're regarded as national heroes.
Australia used to hate "poofters" but now sides with them and hates religious people. I could go on and on and on...

I spent the first 40 years of my life in Australia and I don't remember that. Quite the contrary, in fact. I remember the 80's and 90's as a time of spiritual declension in Australia. As far as I remember, it really all started in the late 70's and it continues today. I'm just wondering where you got the idea that there was a spiritual awakening in the 80's and 90's.

Australia opens the door to hell and damnation for its people and children. May the Lord rebuke them.

Jude :7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities."

Responding to the news, Australia’s Coalition for Marriage group said the passing of an un-amended Bill was “evidence of the disregard that many MPs have for the freedoms of Australians”.

Spokesman Lyle Shelton said: “The Australian people were promised that their freedom of speech, freedom of religion and parental rights would be protected in any same-sex marriage legislation, and this has not happened.”

“As a result of the parliament failing to uphold the rights and freedoms of ordinary Australians, we expect to see similar consequences for free speech, freedom of religion and parental rights as what we have seen overseas.”

The Daily Telegraph reports that free speech protections could be considered again at a later date.

Last month, in a non-binding postal ballot, Australians voted to abandon the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman.

The result followed a campaign of sustained abuse and threats of violence against ‘no’ voters. In the months leading up to the vote, a mother received death threats and a Christian lost her job simply for expressing opposition to the redefinition of marriage

"Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Not done yet!

Australia had a great spiritual awakening in the 1980s and 90s; but now, an entire continent lost! The "Land Down Under" has gone down under.

Matthew 11:23-24 NRSV And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades. For if the deeds of power done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (24) But I tell you that on the day of judgment it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom than for you."

SA picked a good article to explain the situation in Australia. I believe there was only five PMs who tried to protect the rights of normals. the queers can go out of country and form an Unholy Alliance now, and have it recognized in Australia immediately! Even non-christians recognize the nonsense of queer marriages. ]] (The Secular Case Against Gay Marriage).

Oh well,

Romans 8
7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so;
