New York City is certainly one such center of influence. In fact, Bill Jones, Director of the New York Gospel Ministries, states that it is an "extremely strategic city in the kingdom of God." Why so? Here are some quick statistics for your consideration:

• 180 different languages represented in NYC alone.
• The largest city in America, 4th largest in the world.
• One of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world.
• 56 million visitors to NYC each year (12 million outside America).

The Gospel at Work.

Being careful to follow the commands of Scripture, it has been the burden of NYGM to minister to the people of New York City for a number of years now specifically through beneficial deeds as a platform to share not only the Gospel of God, but also the love of God. It is our belief that merely giving the Gospel while ignoring physical needs is as egregious as merely meeting the needs of the body while ignoring the needs of the soul. NYGM seeks to Biblically couple the Gospel and its proclamation with beneficial deeds.

The Problem of Language.

The challenge that NYGM faced was one of language. People began coming to the "food services" who didn't understand the Gospel being preached. With over 25% of NYC speaking Spanish and the largest Asian population outside of Asia living in NYC, the problem was real. How do we reach these (and other) people groups each week?

International Preaching Station.

SermonAudio and the New York Gospel Ministries are partnering up in a new effort to try to solve this language problem. The idea is to coordinate with broadcasters on SermonAudio in various languages to upload 30-minute video Gospel messages (with an evangelistic thrust) and to project it on a large 16'x9' screen in the sanctuary each week. We have two such broadcasters, Derek Tu (Chinese) and Marcus Reyes (Spanish) who have graciously agreed to partner with us for these initial languages.

They not only upload recorded messages through the Gospel of John each week, but they take a few minutes to drop in via FaceTime before the actual service begins to greet the people, answer any questions, and open the service in prayer -- LIVE!

It is our vision and prayer that the strategic headquarters of NYGM, centrally located in the heart of Manhattan, will be established as New York's International Preaching Station, where people of any language group will know where to go to receive both physical food and spiritual food with the Bible being opened every hour of the week in their mother tongue.
