California Democrats legalize child prostitution

Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right.

SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.

This terribly destructive legislation was written and passed by the progressive Democrats who control California's state government with a two-thirds "supermajority." To their credit, they are sincere in their belief that decriminalizing underage prostitution is good public policy that will help victims of sex trafficking. Unfortunately, the reality is that the legalization of underage prostitution suffers from the fatal defect endemic to progressive-left policymaking: it ignores experience, common sense ...

Every last one of those idiots who voted to pass that law should be thrown out of office on their ear and they should never be allowed to hold public office again ----

“ war with Russia”
Let’s hope neither the Democrats nor the Russian leadership get their mutual wish- the fundamental transformation of the globe and the eradication of individual freedom.

I know how to decrease child prostitution. Every week for few months, have a pimp swinging from a rope on a street lamppost.

A 25-year-old waitress who turned down a job providing “sexual services” at a brothel in Berlin faces possible cuts to her unemployment benefit under laws introduced this year.

Prostitution was legalised in Germany just over two years ago and brothel owners – who must pay tax and employee health insurance – were granted access to official databases of jobseekers.

The waitress, an unemployed information technology professional, had said that she was willing to work in a bar at night and had worked in a cafe.

She received a letter from the job centre telling her that an employer was interested in her “profile” and that she should ring them. Only on doing so did the woman, who has not been identified for legal reasons, realise that she was calling a brothel.

Under Germany’s welfare reforms, any woman under 55 who has been out of work for more than a year can be forced to take an available job – including in the sex industry – or lose her unemployment benefit. Last month German unemployment rose for the 11th consecutive month to 4.5 million, taking the number out of work to its highest since reunification in 1990.

Carl in Greensboro from North Carolina wrote: "Come on y'all; these kids are being saved from sex trafficking! They'll earn lunch money for school. And of course their earnings will be taxed and go to fund more liberal causes. Sounds like a win-win."

You need to read the book of Romans, send about 5 hours studying the first chapter, I predict rape, murder, and abduction in the future. They are renting their bodies to others.

Ignominious, I'm leaving pretty soon, hope you're in a better place than Cali, it is soooooooooo vile here, it is a cesspool, I work in a Wal Mart and you see man's depravity on display, I gave out 180 cards (Ray Comfort movie) to a group of guys and two asked, "Is it a porn film?" Filth.

In California there are about 2100 pornagraphic actors, it's an industry that generated 2 billion dollar in the California economy. Now, none of these actors are millionaires times over. At least 65% end up dead due to aids, suicide, murder or overdose. California is replenishing the Porngraphy shelf life of actors who fade out. So, for all those citizens who want to secede from union due to Trump getting elected, because their 3 million votes count more that Nebraska or Wyoming, go to it, but ship you children out before you do.

Controversy, Confusion Over New Law Decriminalizing Prostitution Charges For Minors

Governor Brown signs SB 1322 declaring "There is no such thing as a child prostitute".

California lawmakers advance bill to decriminalize prostitution for minors

SB 1322, authored by Sen. Holly Mitchell (D-Los Angeles), would make the crimes of solicitation and loitering with intent to commit prostitution misdemeanors inapplicable to children younger than 18. It also would allow law enforcement to take sexually exploited children into temporary custody if leaving them unattended would pose an immediate threat to their health or safety.

]]LA Times on lead up to passing Californicate "law"
"would prevent law enforcement from helping vulnerable children who often don’t see themselves as victims, run away from unsecured shelters and remain tied to their traffickers through complicated psychological and emotional bonds."

Fled filth of Californicate decades ago

the last thing they want is full disclosure.

Nancy Schaefer was uncovering CPS rings and look what happened to her.

they also have forced medication of minors there in cali, what a "great" place for kids.

if parents dare protect their kids from paralysis and a lifetime of autoimmune disorders, there's always CPS, and "thankfully" there in Cali, if the foster system loses another one to a "boyfriend" it will all be legal.

if they wanted to stop abuse of kids they'd be disclosing. that's the last thing dems want right now. they'd rather have world war with Russia as a deflection, even shut down free press than to look behind the scenes.

California-the land of fruits and nuts!
I see the article is from a Washington DC newspaper, and not a California one. I would like to see their coverage.
Also, California is the state that provided Hillary her popular vote majority when considered nationwide. But it didn't help her win because she only needed 1 vote more than Trump to win the state, not 3 million more. Those extra votes, if put in places like Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, and North Carolina, would have given her 270 electoral votes and the election. So I am glad we have the electoral vote system to prevent large Leftist states like California and New York from dominating more than what they do already.
I think their next step will be to lower the age of consent.

It is not just Snopes. TMC link is to the Blaze. Numerous websites have debunked this as making it legal for underage prostitution. Prostitution is still illegal in CA regardless of age

Buckeyes wrote:
This actually does make some sense. I’ve heard from multiple sources over the years that some states’ practice of criminally prosecuting the victims of child trafficking makes it harder to rescue them and gives their tormentors means to blackmail them into not telling anyone what is going on. Those selling and buying children still get prosecuted, but the children get to regain their freedom rather than being threatened with juvi.
One great organization who rescues children here and abroad is Operation Underground Railroad:
Buckeye, your explanation sounds the most plausible in that the perpetrators behind the child prostitution and patrons are still deemed criminal and prosecuted under law. Appreciate your input.

on this are TMC and Carl from NC. California is full of left wing nut cases and they pass a slew of bad legislation. This is aimed at not prosecuting the victim of sex trafficking. Those who solicit the minor are still going to be charged. Washington Examiner incorrectly said that law officers are helpless, they are required to place the child in protective custody. The idea is to not make a criminal out of the victim.
