You're Fired! Trump wins presidency, defeats Clinton in historic election upset

Donald Trump, defying the pundits and polls to the end, was projected to defeat Hillary Clinton in Tuesday’s presidential election and claim an establishment-stunning victory that exposes the depth of voter dissatisfaction – and signals immense changes ahead for American policy at home and abroad.

Seventeen months after the billionaire tycoon’s Trump Tower entrance into the race, the first-time candidate once dismissed by the political elite will become the 45th president, Fox News projects.

Speaking to cheering supporters early Wednesday morning at his victory party in New York City, the Republican candidate and now president-elect said Clinton called to congratulate him, and Fox News confirms she has conceded. Despite their hard-fought campaign, Trump praised Clinton for her service and said “it is time for us to come together as one united people.”

“I will be president for all Americans,” ...

Political causes use law to carry out a gospel mission.

I suspect I’ll get the greatest pushback on this point.

When I look back over the running, rear guard action in the church/culture engagement, I can’t help but notice something that doomed the Moral Majority enterprise from the start. It was an effort to make a godly nation of godly people by electing people who would pass and enforce the right laws.

Christian political activists, be they of the liberal (“social justice,” “economic justice,” “food justice,” “internet access justice”) or conservative (“founding principles,” “strict constructionism,” “rule of law”) share alike in one deadly fault: they would use the force of law to create a just society populated by a moral people.

This is a fool’s errand.

Law cannot make people or nations good. Only grace can do this.

Interim Pastors are in the business of returning churches to the ministry of grace in a world in dreadful need.

]]Is There a "Christian Nation"? David Cloud

America’s founders accomplished many great things from a worldly perspective, and it would be a powerful thing if their lives and writings were given more serious attention today throughout the nations and even in America’s own public schools. We can continue to benefit from the farsighted wisdom of these men.

Men such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams should be upheld as the great men and heroes and brilliant thinkers and inventors that they were, and the fact that America’s educational system today slights and nitpicks and even viciously criticizes its own founders, judging them by the vapid principles of modern political-correctness, straining at gnats and swallowing camels, is evidence of the nation’s apostasy.

At the same time, most of America’s founders were not strong Bible-believing Christians, and some were, in fact, enemies of the cross of Christ. This has continued to be true throughout America’s history. Very few of America’s presidents, for example, have been born again Christians when measured by the standard of God’s Word.

How does this add up to a “Christian nation”?

Hey Narowway great comment!

Colossians 1:27-28

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Philippians 4:13

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

John 15:5-7

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

1 Corinthians 2:16

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

Ephesians 1:6

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Romans 8:32

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Here is a couple verses that came to mind on this subject You will enjoy.

Slow it down is right.
Thank you Christopher.

There are some folks who just want to win an argument, or at least give the appearance of winning. This is their agenda, and often it is a youthful trait, without any thought or hope of a good consequence. But this is not the Christian way.

If A wants to convince B of his theology, it won't do for A to slam B's thinking, without first being gracious, and then listening to what B has to say and responding to it.

If A is brought up from birth in an IFB, then Reformed teaching will be initially alien to him, and it certainly won't help him to lambast him with theology or scripture quotes. And vice versa.

In the end, it all comes down to whether natural man is totally depraved or partially depraved. From those two positions comes all theological thinking.

Totally agree Kev. May I add;
NB John 14:20. "ye in me and I in you"
"fellowship with the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. They know, [1.] That Christ is in the Father, is one with the Father, by their experience of what he has wrought for them and in them; they find what an admirable consent and harmony there is between Christianity and natural religion, that that is grafted into this, and so they know that Christ is in the Father. [2] That Christ is in them; experienced Christians know by the Spirit that Christ abides in them, 1 Jn.3:24. [3] That they are in Christ, for the relation is mutual, and equally near on both sides, Christ in them and they in Christ, which speaks an intimate and inseparable union; in the virtue of which it is that because he lives they shall live also. Note, 1st, Union with Christ is the life of believers; and their relation to him, and to God through him, is their felicity. 2nd, The knowledge of this union is their unspeakable joy and satisfaction; they were now in Christ, and he in them, but he speaks of it as a further act of grace that they should know it, and have the comfort of it. An interest in Christ and the knowledge of it are sometimes separated" (M.Henry) Also 1Jn 4:4,15.

You see bro how repentance and faith is "wrought" in a sinner; it is all a work of God, not an ABC formula for salvation. It is God's work from start to finish.
Glad you cleared that up from Scripture.

J4 I was only stating what you said multiple times about the Holy Spirit. I figure Nik should know.

John 8:47

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

John 10:25-27

25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

John 17:6-9

6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

John 6
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Kev...

Thanks for the slander! Lol.

The preaching of the gospel convicts.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Could he have been a Gentile, standing afar off from the Jew, as Gentiles had limited acccess in the Temple?
Merciful meaning "propitious", he certainly had an eye to a sacrifice for sin and his need of it. So he was convicted of his sins; it must have been by the Holy Ghost; for the Jew had no such conviction, even though very religious.
What shall I say? He wasn't justified when he approached the Temple, coz Jesus said he went to his house justified - after he had prayed. But your question is, was he quickened before he prayed?
I think yes, like Saul of Tarsus was quickened and the trembling Christian was assured by Jesus, "Behold he prayeth."
True prayer is in the Spirit, spiritual.
What's your thinking bro?
I'll give it a go. If quickening is bringing to life, and he was quickened before praying for mercy, mercy is that already granted, for one cannot come alive without God having mercy. I would wonder how long the publican was spiritually alive but not justified. Is it even possible?

So you don't think it had to do with calling Jesus Lord?

Who convicts of sin, the natural man?
I understand both you and J4 believe you believed in Jesus without the Holy Spirit. I know how much J4 hates when you bring up the work of the Holy Spirit in salvation J4 even compared the work of the Holy Spirit like Harry Potter magic a most blasphemous thing I've heard on here.

Just don't get to that point Nik take care and God bless.

Hey Kev
Luke 23:
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
He feared God,
Recognised the condition of his sin
And believed on the Lord
Jesus looked into hie convicted and repentant heart.

You know what I got that verse mixed up with this one.

Luke 23:42King James Version (KJV)

42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

My mistake.

When the thief declared Jesus Lord. Yeah I agree with John UK. The publican was humble and saw his sins.

This is great because it shows what J4 was talking about as well.

What did he cry out "God be merciful to me a sinner" he declared Jesus to be God. No one can confess this of the flesh.

1 Corinthians 12:3King James Version (KJV)

3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Clearly the Holy Ghost helped him or he wouldn't of declared Jesus God.

J4 what is it to say Jesus is Lord:

Romans 10:9King James Version (KJV)

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

None other than to be saved!

It's clear if you just let the verses mean what they say J4.

Like I heard before: "it's so easy a Calvinist can do it" lol I really seen that quote comparing a Calvinist to a caveman lol.

They're right it's just letting the verses mean what they say!
