Trump Tells Evangelical Leaders He Will End Decades-Old Ban on Church Politicking
n a gathering with 900 evangelical pastors and leaders Tuesday, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump promised that he would protect the political speech and religious freedom of pastors and clergy by repealing a longstanding ban on church and nonprofit politicking.

As many evangelical leaders have remained skeptical about backing Trump even after he clinched enough delegates to claim the GOP nomination, the organizations United in Purpose and My Faith Votes, headed by Ben Carson, organized a much-anticipated "conversation" between the billionaire real estate mogul and over 900 pastors, activists and leaders in New York City to allow them to get to know each other better. ...

Hi John, yes, I believe there are those who do the best they can, but I just don't believe that anyone can make it into high office without comprimising their faith based values to get there. No politician can cator to any specific moral demographic and get the votes necessary for election. They need to appeal to a general audience and this can only be done by leading them to believe their concerns, wants, needs, morals, and values, etc, are also the politicians. This, to me, is where professional double speak comes in handy, or speaking in generalities, vagueness, or talking wide loops around specific questions, etc.as they leave the answers open ended, confused, or questionable. This is the way I see it, but could be wrong, of course.

(John 8:32) (TMC's brother, not TMC ) @Christopher, How are you doing? While I think many politicians do compromise, I believe politicians are just like all other men. All men are imperfect, and compromise themselves in some circumstances. However, what sets a man of good character apart from an unregenerate is a repentance and brokenness for these failings. I do believe there can be politicians with good character who stand for their principles. Just look at the Bible for examples such as David, Hezekiah, Esther, etc. Hope you have a good night.

Thanks Jim. Hi TMC, I should have been more clear. When I spoke of honesty, I meant more of him just telling it like it is, and not latching onto this politically correct nonscense. They all flip and flop around like fish out of water, turning over and over, and speaking in generalities, vagueness, and double speak for the votes. Like Frank has said, I think, you really can't be a politician and never comprimise yourself, your values, your faith, etc.

trump's message is about saving the nation as a nation. same exact issue on the ballot today with brexit.... will they vote to remain in the NWO/EU or become their own nation again? the prior will mean sharia law, the latter will mean the people having to pick up the pieces of the nation and move forward.

until the church is willing to ethically deal with the things that trump is saying they have no moral ground to criticize him. here he is trying to help whiny evangelical leaders to give them the freedom they refuse to take by making themselves free churches.

here it is trump telling Christians that he wants to restore their freedoms then they sit and complain about him. its unbelievable.

truth is the neocons (dispensationalists) want their neocon candidate, cruz, even though his wife worked for the CFR committee that wants to make North American Union..... because their religion aligns them with the NWO, they can't help it.... they call this both biblical and constitutional somehow. it truly bothers them that trump saw (as do the majority of the US and the world) that the iq wore made a mockery of us, and that it would be better to get along with Putin than to fund ISIS that genocides Christians.

Seems to be a lot of Trump articles today. I wonder why?

Todays western nations are suffering from a 'modern' lack of good leadership, when we compare them with previous generations.
But the church is lacking too in sound doctrine with so many churches swinging apostately to the self-assisted salvation and works based religious ideologies such as Liberalism and Arminian free will.

The plague of Liberalism is clearly satanic and heretical and affecting the world which includes politics and the church and institutions such as family and morals.

America's choice of "leader" at the moment is no choice, but Christians can still trust in a Sovereign God who remains in complete charge over all nations. Thus has it always been.

God's promise of:-
Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Was made at a time in Israel when they were under military occupation; But God brought His people through.

1Thes 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
v11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

Keep Praying.

In fact, if you measure their success or failure according to their own stated political ambitions, evangelicals have failed spectacularly in America’s political arena. Over the past quarter-century, they have not accomplished any of their long-term legislative or constitutional goals.
....Evangelicals have become accustomed to compromise. They have abandoned (or else are in the process of abandoning) virtually all the doctrinal distinctives that made them distinct from Roman Catholics and nominal Christians whose faith amounts to a kind of civil religion. Evangelicals have pretty much forfeited whatever real moral and spiritual authority their movement ever had.

Nice to see you posting, Christopher. I must, however, disagree with you about Trump's supposed “honesty”. He's constantly changing his positions on issues, sometimes even in the same interview! I view this as particularly dishonest because voters want to know what candidates stand for, and when candidates say many different things to appeal to everyone, they are being intellectually dishonest. And this is the same guy that lies about trivial matters such as steak, water, and cuff links! Thanks for posting that quote. Wayfarer P., Thank you for posting, you brought up some very valid points. I liked your comparison of Trump to Otis of Mayberry RFD!

Mat 3:8-12 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Gen 6:1-3a And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh:
...Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD

1Cor. 7:14 (for lack of space)... else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

"repealing a longstanding ban on church and nonprofit politicking."

so he speaks to the church of the freedoms they lost which were lost by their own free will by signing incorporation papers for Christ's church.

again, God is showing His judgment, bringing the truth, and the issue as not a political one, but rather the fact that the organized church will not set itself free...... like a deer caught in a trap that has a button to open the trap but wants someone else to do the work of setting it free.

this organized religion is showing their true colors, by pretending they didn't lose these freedoms then turning to politicians to save them from their own choices, instead of weeping at the pulpits and purifying the church.

My problem with Trump is he is the response to the vulgarity of our political system collapsing all around us. Want help fornicating, here's a pill, want to get rid of unwanted child, here's a pill, want a businessman who knows absolutely nothing about the law, here's Trump, want a president who can be indicted, we have two too choose from. The conservative Christian Pharisees who castigate their own conservative Christian congressmen who they vote for year in and year out, hold that congressman's feet to the fire everyday, will turn around and vote for Trump is like making Otis mayor of Mayberry RFD. But then , Trump may be better than the devil who has wanted to be president since 1992. We have entered our Wiermach era. Praying and holiness is our only hope during this time of judgement.

Psa 119:17 GIMEL. Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
Psa 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
Psa 119:19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
Psa 119:20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.
Psa 119:21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
Psa 119:22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
Psa 119:23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
Psa 119:24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.

Sorry, I do like Trumps anti-political correctness and honesty, but he's made way too many promises he can't keep. Example: "Everybody loves me. Anything anybody wants or needs, I'll get it (once ellected) Anything. You need this, you got it. Someone needs that...done! Everyone loves me". Hmmm. Trump has trumped all previous political promises by any politician.

I think this might be a good idea, this should free up liberal churches, as Unitarians and Methodists q.v., ]]http://tinyurl.com/h4q4npw (5 faith facts about Hillary Clinton, social gospel Methodist to the core) to avoid the Gospel message completely, it would also allow so-called conservative pastors to ape Rush Limbaugh. It also shows that the Donald knows nothing about Christianity.
John MacArthur wrote:
Many think this is a political problem that will not be solved without a political strategy. During the past twenty-five years, well-meaning Christians have founded a number of evangelical activist organizations and sunk millions of dollars into them in an effort to use the apparatus of politics—lobbying, legislation, demonstration, and boycott—to counteract the moral decline of American culture....

But is that a proper perspective? I believe not. America’s moral decline is a spiritual problem, not a political one, and its solution is the gospel, not partisan politics.

That would be something to see a president sticking up for Christians. I know I like Trump way more than Clinton that is for a no brainier.
