Methodist minister comes out as gay during sermon

After 25 years of ministry within the United Methodist Church, Rev Cynthia Meyer made a huge announcement last Sunday. During a sermon at her church in Edgerton, Kansas, she came out as gay.

"The Lord has led me here to share my deep truth with you. It's time," Meyer told her congregation on January 3. "I have been an ordained UMC pastor for 25 years. At last, I am choosing to serve in that role with full authenticity, as my genuine self, as a woman who loves and shares my life with another woman."

Meyer explained that she had remained single for 20 years of ministry, but a few years ago fell in love with her partner, Mary. "In the midst of much prayer, at long last Mary and I decided that the Holy Spirit had whirled us around and brought us together; that our relationship is a holy part of God's calling on our lives." ...

DEFINITELY The Devil-Demon SPIRIT Of JEZEBEL & ATHALIAH At Work In The SPIRIT, SOUL & BODY Of This "JEWSUIT" (Yes, Meyer Is A 'Jewish' Surname) INFILTRATOR Of The Methodist Church !

One Can DEFINITELY Smell The STINK Of A "JEWSUIT"-INFILTRATOR--Especially An Ecclesiastical "Jewsuit"-Infiltrator In A TRUE HISTORIC PROTESTANT BIBLICAL-LITERALIST CHRISTIAN CHURCH--By THEIR OUTRIGHT ADDING-TO, TAKING-AWAY-FROM &-Or DISTORTING (ADULTERATING) THE LITERAL-INTERPRETATION Of The Following NEW TESTAMENT LAWS Of CHURCH, MINISTERIAL &-OR CONGREGATIONAL DISCIPLINE:

"Let THE WOMAN Learn In SILENCE With ALL SUBJECTION.

But I (GOD: THE HOLY GHOST/SPIRIT &-OR THE HOLY-SPIRIT LEAD APOSTLE PAUL) Suffer (Permit) NOT A WOMAN TO TEACH, NOR USURP AUTHORITY OVER THE MAN, BUT TO BE IN SILENCE.

FOR ADAM WAS FIRST FORMED, Then Eve."-1 Timothy 2:11-13

"For GOD Is NOT The Author Of CONFUSION, But Of PEACE, As In ALL CHURCHES OF THE SAINTS (THE DISCIPLES-CHRISTIANS-ETC.).

LET YOUR WOMEN ***KEEP SILENCE IN THE CHURCHES***: FOR IT IS NOT PERMITTED UNTO THEM TO SPEAK; BUT THEY ARE COMMANDED TO BE UNDER OBEDIENCE, AS ALSO SAITH THE LAW.

AND IF THEY WILL LEARN ANY THING, LET THEM ASK THEIR HUSBANDS AT HOME: FOR IT IS A SHAME (SIN) FOR WOMEN TO SPEAK IN THE CHURCH[ES]."-1 CORINTHIANS 14:33-35 !

Seriously, the knitting ninnies rattled their jewelry with approval that they had a priestess in the pulpit 25 years ago. Um, clearly they knew she was a lesbian then and shouldn't do anything but approve her now as they did then. Another " demon-in- nation" has its candle blown out.

That woman is unqualified on two fronts to be a Methodist minister namely being a woman and being a fruitcake.

Thanks for the replies. I've never really studied the unpardonable sin, but Jims comment makes good sense of it.

Gday gsmontana and Lord bless.
I agree with Jim.
The Pharisees in the time of Christ were blasphemous to the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
No.

"The one unpardonable sin was the sin of those who had seen His miracles with their own eyes; they knew He was the true Messiah; they were part of the generation to whom He was personally sent. And yet they attributed His powers to Satan. That was unforgivable because it was such a hard-hearted, willful expression of utter rejection from fully enlightened hearts, who punctuated their rejection with an extreme blasphemy. Those Pharisees had stood in the presence of the living embodiment of all truth; they heard His words and saw His works. All the mysteries of Christ had been unveiled before their very eyes. And yet they spurned Him. There was nothing else that could be shown to them to enlighten them further. They were not deceived; they knew full well what they were doing. That’s why their sin was unpardonable."--Phil Johnson

This woman made some very interesting comments that's totally contrary to the Word of God.

1) She said that she has been a minister/pastor at her church for 25 years!
Question: How could she or any female ever qualify to be an undershepherd over any flock if there are men present in the pews?

The word of God clearly states, a woman should not teach no usurp authority over man (1 Tim 2:11). And women should keep silent in the Church (1 Corith 14:34-35).
Also, if she read the pastoral epistles, the Word of God clearly says a pastor must be the "husband" of one woman, and it goes on to say, "he", "he", "he" a number of times!

How can she or any woman ever qualify to be a pastor???

2) She also mentioned that she fell in love with her partner; which is another woman!

the members of that church should immediately call for her to be under church discipline so she can sit down and be ministered to. She is blatantly living in the sin of lesbianism (Romans 1:26-27; Lev 18:22;20:13 & Jude:1:7).

3) She blaspheme the Holy Spirit when she stated that the Holy Spirit had whirled and brought her & her partner together for this lesbian relationship!

I guess she does not believe in the infallibility of the Word of God. This lady is delusional and she needs serious praye

Thanks for your insight. Just an additional comment
No one arrives from point A to point B in a single 'jump' as it were. Generally speaking there are degrees of decline by which the hopping descend occurs.
This is the concern about the ongoing 'pragmatic' liberalism in evangelical circles where the word 'separation' appears to be too much of a concept to live with, or perhaps an unwelcome/unnecessary issue of the past belonging to backward/awkward people.
Remarkably, the same people that seem to cry the louder at this sort of news, are the ones living in the pragmatism of average lukewarm principle and standards.

If the unpardonable sin is ascribing something which is of God to the devil or an evil spirit, maybe the reverse is also true, ascribing something which is of the devil to God.

Quite so, Mike. I wasn't actually connecting the two, but talking in general when mentioning the CCM and happy clappy. Many Methodist churches in the UK are run by women and sing conservatively and have lost the gospel - apostate.

You would think if God condoned homosexuality, that in the first book of the bible (Gen.19:24) He wouldn't have destroyed a whole city and the inhabitants of it because of doing man doing things that were unnatural. It is amazing that there has to even be a trial or whatever they call it to take this lady out of her position that she shouldn't even be in to begin with.

There are probably as many answers to what "blasphemy against the Holy Ghost" is as there are people who have seriously considered the question.

I would say "no" she has not committed the unpardonable sin, but that is strictly my opinion.

Great comment, ladybug!

"goats in the pews and hirelings in the pulpits" sounds like a great name for a sermon or tract. I might have to write one!

" Mary and I decided that the Holy Spirit had whirled us around and brought us together; that our relationship is a holy part of God's calling on our lives." - So they 'decided', they made the choice to sin and dare to include the Holy Spirit in such an abomination! Their 'decision' reminds me of Jeremiah 17:9, 'The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?' The wicked heart will always find a way to justify sin.
From the article, "Her congregation has been incredibly supportive of her decision, Meyer said. After the service, she received numerous hugs and words of affirmation. "The thing I heard most frequently was, 'We hope you continue to be our pastor. We want to be with you in this'." This shows the sad state of many 'churches' in America; they are filled with goats in the pews and hirelings in the pulpits. This woman has no right to claim to be a preacher, for that role is forbidden for women. Any denomination that allows such prove they do not have the things of God at heart, rather, man is the center of such a religion.

'And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.'

Very good insight, Mike I already commented on female leaders, I will point this out about Churches that support gay marriage.
John MacArthur said or, wrote:
They have no allegiance to the Bible,...You go back to every one of those seminaries … for a century [they] have been deniers of biblical authority, they have no relationship to scripture, they are the apostate church, they are Satan's church....
Institutional churches ebb and flow, denominations ebb and flow. They are made up of true believers and false believers ‚ÄĒ the genuine and the diluted...here is a sense in which there's always going to be an ebb and flow in the institutional church....

Sorry, but it was not the Holy Spirit who led you into a lesbian relationship, nor to take a leadership role. He is the spirit of truth.
