The case before the state Supreme Court involves two lesbians and a 9-year-old girl. One birthed the girl through in vitro fertilization.
But the women split up and the mother married a man and has refused custody rights to her former partner.
Kent Ostrander of the Family Foundation of Kentucky calls the legal case a sad story "that has been engendered by the cultural shift and slide into redefining marriage, redefining sexuality and therefore redefining family."
