Pastor Pays Price to See Germany's Spiritual Revival
Germany was the birthplace of the Reformation and was once a base for world missions. But much of Germany today is covered by a profound spiritual darkness, as are most Western nations.
Those who refuse to compromise on the teaching of scripture pay a price.
Bremen Pastor Olaf Latzel knows full well that there is a cost for speaking out boldly -- especially in today's Germany, where traditional Christian teaching is viewed by many as bigoted, hateful, and even "un-Christian."
Political correctness is the new orthodoxy that all are being forced to bow the knee to. How refreshing to see a German pastor taking the lead and speaking boldly the truth of God's word against it! The climate sounds like much of that in America as far as the media is concerned, the devil's tool. this pastor sounds like a modern day Martin Luther in the very time of October of the historic Reformation!
I skimmed the article and found it interesting. I have spent much time in Germany, so I understand the religous climate fairly well at least. Anyway, I think is ironic that someone can say they are preaching the gospel and are not politically correct and because they are doing this, they are singled out as being unique. I think that sort of says a lot. Anyway, I also noted this pastor correctly understood that his novelty is also bringing about a false sense of pride. That comment was more important to me than the rest. It is rare that pastors recognize this temptation that will destroy them.
[As] the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so [is] a man to his praise. (Pro 27:21 KJV)
Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. (Pro 16:18 KJV)
Biblical preaching is sadly lacking in western nations today. There are many quote 'churches' unquote which you can go to in the nations and receive only Liberalism and Arminian works based religious nonsense. The absolute sovereignty of God and the absolute depravity of man is the fact and truth of Gospel preaching, AND the fact and truth of reality. But the hypocrite and false witness which we observe in the churches reduces the witness to placate man and obscure God. Their 'bible' doctrines then become Satan's tool and indulge the sinner in his iniquity and transgressions.
The politically correct human originated term of "multi-faith" is oxymoron and deception, a lie accepted and believed by nominals, Liberals and other religious reprobates. Churches such as Germany's national church, Anglican, Episcopalian and all other Liberal churches are just as idolatrous and blasphemous as the RCC.
May God continue to give this pastor the grace to fight the good fight.
denied God omniscient & omnipotent &that Jesus Christ is God in that sense:
"So if we speak of Jesus Christ as God, we may not speak of him as the representative of an idea of God who possesses the properties of omniscience and omnipotence (there is no such thing as this abstract divine nature!)" (Christ the Center, p. 108).
Denied His virgin birth:
"Strictly speaking, we should really talk, not about the Incarnation, but only about the Incarnate One. An interest in the incarnation raises the question 'How?' The question 'How?' thus underlies the hypothesis of the Virgin Birth. It is both historically and dogmatically questionable. The biblical evidence for it is uncertain" (Christ the Center, p. 109).
denied sinlessness of Christ:
"The assertion of the sinlessness of Jesus fails if it has in mind observable acts of Jesus. His deeds are done in the likeness of flesh. They are not sinless, but ambiguous. One can and should see good and bad in them" (Christ the Center, p. 113).
denied resurrection of Christ:
"Bible itself reveals the stumbling block ...disciples had perhaps stolen the body. Even here we cannot evade the realm of ambiguity" (Christ the Center, p. 117).
From the article: Latzel said: 1. "I think over 80 percent of the pastors in the national church in Germany are not reborn," 2. "If you preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and everyone is clapping his hand, then you have a problem."
1. This statistic is coming close to the statistic of Luther's time.
2. This is quite common of the present 'preaching staff' in the evangelical world, yet nothing new
"Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets." Lk 6:26
False prophets might have 'godly' rapport, devious links and hold the ear of people in block:
" … a certain man, called Simon, which … in the same city used sorcery, .. bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries"
Though Simon 'believed' it took the power from the Apostles to unmask his predicament.
"Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent.... For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity." Ac 8
Boy, oh, boy...reminds me of the state of the US; bigoted, hateful, un-Christian, Christians because we won't bow a knee to diversity, political correctness. Recently, a lady who claims to be saved and was just baptized, yet having no visible evidence of such as the filth continues to pour from her mouth and her Halloween costume being a fishnet body suit with something really foul strapped to it as she danced and paraded around proudly was admonished by another Christian lady. The lady politely told her how offended she was, questioned her salvation, and spoke to her about her lack of visible change, etc, etc. This ladys response was, "You are being un-Christian like and it's people like you who give other Christians a bad name". I thought the response was interesting and the article.reminded me of it.
Another German who understood what heavenly grace would cost him in taking a stand & following Christ for the glory of Him to be know as no king but Christ alone amen.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer stood up to Hitler in Germany, not ashamed of Christ or His gospel either amen.
Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock. Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner.
May the Lord strengthen other faitful Men of God, who are lovers of Christ, of His word & who aren't ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Stand up boldly to proclaim the whole counsel of God's life changing, holy word, from one dying man to another dying man. That God has commanded all of mandkind to repent, that the Lord would remove the spiritual blinders, that would allow others to cry out to Him. For His saving merices, that others would see & taste the goodness of the Lord, as they would flee from the justified wrath to come down on those who die in their sin amen.
1 Cor1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Gospel, and not with the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who perish; but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God.
