Pope to use Lincoln's Gettysburg lectern in Philadelphia

When Pope Francis delivers his address at Independence Hall next month, he will stand behind a nondescript lectern of dark walnut, largely unused since it was placed in a cemetery in Gettysburg on Nov. 19, 1863. There, President Abraham Lincoln gripped its softly curved sides and etched into the history books, "Four score and seven years ago. . . ."

Amid the hustle of big-picture logistics and intense plans for Francis' visit to Philadelphia Sept. 26 and 27 is the chest-high lectern that will link the Gettysburg Address to the pope's widely anticipated speech on religious freedom and immigration.

Privately owned and on loan to the Union League of Philadelphia, the lectern will be moved to Independence Hall for the pope's speech that Saturday. Only the pope and Archbishop Charles J. Chaput will speak from it, before about 35,000 people on Independence Mall - and thousands more watching on ...

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: "If the American people could learn what I know of the fierce hatred of the Rome against our institutions, our schools, our most sacred rights, and our so dearly bought liberties, they would drive them away from among us, or they would shoot them as traitors" "I know tht Jesuits never forget nor forsake. But man must not care how and where he dies, provided he dies at the post of honor and duty." Fifty Years in the Church of Rome, page 697, 664.

What hypocrisy for the pope to now be using the lectern from which Lincoln championed American freedom. The papacy was on the side of the Confederacy!! The pope who was Lincoln's contemporary, Pope Pius IX, declared, "'The absurd and erroneous doctrines or ravings in defense of liberty of conscience, are a most pestilential error--a pest, of all others, most to be dreaded in a State." The same pope, in his Encyclical Letter of December 8, 1864, anathematized "'those who assert the liberty of conscience and of religious worship," also "all such as maintain that the church may not employ force."

Lol...bury a statue upside down in the yard to sell a house. It sounds like some kind of voodoo ritual or dog training exercise. Maybe the lady who advised this was confused about some directions that someone gave her in regards to her dog.

Well, when I did, and whenever I habe destroyed say, a rosary, a Mary prayer card, pictures of saints, or whatever, I've always had to do it without her knowledge. She would flip out if she ever knew, but she has so much junk that she never will.

Being set free from satanic Rome by God's free and sovereign grace we smashed all statues, rosaries, images and shredded our baptism, first communion, and confirmation certificates.
All praise, glory and honour to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

As you know, the argument, and word used to counter this is "veneration". "We don't worship this or that, we venerate them". This is what they've been tricked into believing, no matter what the evidence suggests. Whether it's Mary, the saints, or whoever/whatever, to venerate is to honor, but the practices such as praying to, attributing qualities reserved for God alone, asking for things that only God has the power to provide, and paying homage or reverence and treating that person, living or not, as being on the same holy scale of God Himself extends far beyond simple veneration.
While searching for a new home, my wifes grandmother gave her a statue of some saint, telling her to bury it upside down in the yard to sell the house. I didn't alllw it, of course, and threw the statue out.
I agree with your thoughts and thanks for providing them. They do play word games; that is for sure. I can't believe you desecrated that statue.

Perfectly said sister! The RCC doesn't even have a command against making things with their hands and then worshipping those things. They say they don't worship their statues and relics, but then what would happen if you destroy one of them. Since I was raised RC, I have knelt before more relics than most. The RCC worships relics and things made by hand. And even worse than relics are the dead people they pray to for their help and assistance.

Ask Jesus' mother and He will obey His mom and things like that.

Perhaps the people setting this up should read their history. The United States revoked its diplomatic ties with Rome after the assassination of Lincoln due to Romes role in Lincolns assassination. It was not restored until Reagan again recognized them in the 80's. Read the full story of this in "50 years in the Church of Rome" by Charles Chineque (not sure I spelled that right).

ABRAHAM LINCOLN Himself Said:

"So Many Plots Have Already Been Made Against My Life, That It Is A Real Miracle That They Have All Failed...

But Can We Expect That GOD Will Make A Perpetual Miracle To Save My Life ?

I Believe Not.

The Jesuits Are So Expert In Those Deeds Of Blood That Henry IV (King Of France Who Was Assassinated By The Jesuit Revaillac For Giving Liberty To His People), Said That It Was Impossible To Escape Them, And He Became Their Victim, Though He Did All He Could to Protect Himself.

My Escape From Their Hands, Since The Letter Of The Pope To Jeff(erson) Davis Has Sharpened A Million Of Daggers To Pierce My Breast, Would Be More Than A Miracle...

I Know That JESUITS Never Forget Nor Forsake (Never Give Up).

Man Must Not Care How And Where He Dies, Provided He Dies At The Post Of Honor And Duty." [Quote Taken From The Book FIFTY YEAR IN THE CHURCH OF ROME (c)1885 &-Or FORTY YEARS IN THE CHURCH OF CHRIST (c)1900 By Charles T. Chiniquy] !

"AFTER TWENTY YEARS OF CONSTANT AND MOST DIFFICULT RESEARCH, I COME FEARLESSLY TODAY BEFORE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, TO SAY AND PROVE THAT THE PRESIDENT, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, WAS ASSASSINATED BY THE PRIESTS AND THE JESUITS OF ROME."--CHARLES T. CHINIQUY [From Fifty Yeas In The Church Of Rome] ! ! !

Maybe the Pope wants to speak about liberty and independence.

The lecturn he uses should be made of solid, white gold and encrusted with priceless bling. I wonder if he's aware that he'll be using some paupers plywood lecturn.
