Evangelical Professor Resigns Because He Doesn't Believe 'Adam, Was Created by Immediate Act of God'
A wave of concern is now rippling through the Christian science community after it was revealed that Jim Stump, a respected evangelical philosophy of science professor at the Christian Bethel College in Indiana, chose to resign last month because he doesn't agree with the school's new corporate position that "the first man, Adam, was created by an immediate act of God and not by a process of evolution."

The Board of Trustees of Bethel College, which is affiliated with the Missionary Church, recently approved a new policy on human origins after years of discussion between the college and the denomination which insists that the church's view on Adam "should be advocated as the official, meritorious, and theologically responsible position of the College, without disparagement."

"Though a very small part of a college's curriculum, the topic of origins has become a prominent theological conversation ...

Excellent point bro! Exactly right!

A resolution seemingly contradicted by his blatant and unapologetic ecumenism and some of his other theories regarding sodomy and the environment.

interesting Wayfairer, I think many of them begin their classes with the address to the evolutionary gods and then move on to actual science, which coming from primordial ooze is not!

I had a prof in college, he was big on evolution, mocked Christians, etc. by now you should know the drill, make fun of creation science. But, his teaching assistants were young earth creationists. We asked how is this so, the TA said, prof can only get research money with evolutionary viewpoint. But he and most know there is no possible way for an old world ape to be transformed to what we know as man. "Made as much sense as a junk yard too sit idle for 2 million years till a jet airliner up and rolls out the gate."

I graduated from Bethel with a master's in Christian ministry one year before Jim in 1990. I started my masters program at Notre Dame but left because they only teach evolution everywhere at ND. Bethel college definitely took the right position. Jim is wrong and I have written him that he is wrong. One question solves most of this debate. What did Jesus and the apostles believe about the story of Adam and Eve: real or myth?

Re: John Stott... There are other problems... He's also an annihilationist which position cannot be adopted if one treats scripture at face value.

History Channel aired a propaganda piece with that reasoning, it continues that 'god' is an ET that changed prehuman DNA 5000 years ago to satisfy a need for manual labor then left....or something like that

As much as I despised their conclusion, the program did a fine job of illustrating the failures of evolutionary theory to explain the rapid rise of sophisticated civilization outside the parameters of their accepted paradigm

God has given to all his people the capability of being most zealous for Jesus Christ. God has given to all his people the ability to be most holy. But are all his people all zealous and holy?

Revelation 3:14-16 KJV
(14) And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
(15) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
(16) So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Be zealous, therefore, and repent.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The **zeal** of the LORD of hosts will perform this."

The zeal which comes from God is the only zeal HIS servant seeks to use.

Hebrew 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
= The evidence of things not seen.
By this evidence which mortals without the gift of faith cannot perceive by human intellect and understanding, we are given by God to see the light and the truth.

2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
= Faith provides a knowledge and understanding to the Christian - which the reprobate, Liberal and unsaved religious nominal do not have and cannot use.

Many will call HIM Lord, Lord but Christ will not know them as one of HIS own sheep.

Like the Jews many in the churches have great zeal - But zeal is not knowledge or faith.
Romans 10:2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge."

But for whatever reason, the supernatural is not allowed in creation. And the worse part about it is that this is becoming a growing trend in the church.http://images.sa-media.com/images/smilies/thumbsdown.gif
I'm not surprised by Keller, but I'm really disappointed to hear that about Stott. Just goes to show that people you think are solid, may have some terrible erroneous area. Special Creation affects every other doctrine.

The theory of evolution not only denies the special creation of Adam; it denies there ever was a 'first man.' Evolutionists believe the species homo sapiens gradually emerged from earlier 'primates' and that from the beginning, homo sapiens was a community of evolving creatures. In other words, there was never an original human couple; never a first man; hence, there was no historic fall in time of the first man, bringing disastrous consequences upon the human race.

My point is this: there is no reasonable way to harmonize evolutionary theory with the plain declarations of the Bible regarding human origins. The Bible teaches beyond all doubt that the entire human race descended from a single couple, Adam and Eve, who were specially created by God thousands, not millions of years ago. The man was created first, and from his material substance, the first woman was created. Then the two of them were brought together in the first marriage. If all of this is but a parable or symbolic tale-- with no contextual evidence suggesting that it is-- and if the apostolic writers were wrong to base theology on the historical order of events that never took place-- we might as well throw out the Bible as incomprehensible. The school does well to maintain its position.

Yeah, it seems like the earth's most intelligent seem to be the ones who think the idea of a God is only for the brainwashed idiots of the world. Yet, they will believe in every other manmade idea fron evolution to panspermia. Anything but a creator. The evidence is stacked against them but they're much too intelligent to believe in such silly, fanciful things.

Much learning doth make thee mad; even to the point of questioning, yea, hath God said? Just one of the many signs of apostasy.
