UN: Spanking Must Be Banned in UK

The UK will be breaking international law unless smacking is completely banned, Britain’s four official children’s commissioners have insisted.

In a report submitted to the United Nations, the four commissioners – representing England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – are demanding an “immediate” repeal of all laws allowing parents to deliberately hurt their children.

The Government must also teach parents who smack alternative “non-violent forms of child rearing and behaviour management”, they add.

The report, sent to a UN committee assesses whether the UK is living up to what the commissioners see as Britain’s commitments under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), a major international treaty dealing with issues as diverse as kidnapping or sex trafficking to the right to education and clean water. ...

Brother Saint Elected Christopher, the short answer is no. Even if any sort of inflicted violence on someone may appear to "work", does it ultimately "work" and is it right? I say no, just like I say no to sinners prayer, fish dinners, games, rock-n-roll music etc. for supposedly drawing unbelievers to Christ. Seems to work, but it doesn't.

Look at the entirety of scripture and you'll see the false doctrine of hitting little children. Professed believers have a fetish with violence and domination and pervert scripture so they can justify their sin. Don't hold some doctrine, especially one so serious as hurting children who cannot even understand, based on a few isolated passages, especially a few OT passages, and even more especially a few "dark sayings" (proverbs).

However, since your wife is an unbeliever, and if I may use the same application, are you dwelling in the corner of your house? And how may believers with contentious, brawling wives are obeying God and dwelling in the corner of their houses or wilderness? Is this doctrine being taught?

Proverbs 21:9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

See Proverbs 25:24, 21:19

Thanks SC. There was never a single time that either of our parents had a talk with us afterwards, told us they loved us...nothing. Just tow the line or get beat. This is the type of thing I'm talking about and agree children should be protected from, but spare the rod, spoil the child is something that holds true today, especially when nothing else seems to work, and it's this "proper", and biblical type of punishment that the liberals, etc, are calling abuse and locking parents up for. Again, I'm all for children being protected from abusive parents, which there are plenty of, but come on, spanking your children out of love for them because you want to teach them right from wrong when nothing else is working to send them down the right path into young adulthood? Please.

Yes,Christopher. There is all the world of difference between spanking to discipline and beating.

Hi Officer Brother Saint Elmer,

Me and my brothers and sisters were beat senseless as kids with the good old strap. I used to put on several layers of jeans if I had advance warning. This kind of punishment was dead wrong, but do you believe in any sort of spanking when nothing else seems to work? The beatings worked for me because they made me live in fear, so that was dead wrong, but the bible does tell us not to spare the rod. I think a necessary spanking, not beating, should always be followed up with telling the child that.they are loved along with an explanation of why.

It taught you obedience to a false god.

Those who hit children need to pick on someone their own size!

Sure, they'll hit the weak, undeveloped minds, but they'll use a gun to shoot someone from a 1000 yards away. Cowards and sissies!!

Yet, above them, the Sovereign Ruler allows this for reasons he knows, to fulfill his purposes.

For decades, Western Christianity could hardly imagine how, ever, its settings could be shattered to resemble those mentioned in Hebrews.

“And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings,
… bonds and imprisonment:
They were stoned,... sawn asunder, were tempted,
were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins;
… destitute, afflicted, tormented;” Heb.11:36-37.

Yet, “he changes the times and the seasons:” Dan.2:21

“All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing:
and he does according to his will in the army of heaven,
and among the inhabitants of the earth:
and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?”
Da 4:35

May He bring good even we experience Rom.8:36 for a while:
“For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."

Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

If parents love their children and their children become unruly, then they will use a switch, stick or belt and punish them. They will disobey the authorities who prohibit this because their love for God and His word and their children will trump even their desire to hang onto their children.

Matthew 13:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

they are moving the west to international law. please understand folks, there are treaties already written, many signed and then they just trickle the changes into the national laws day after day. they are erasing nation'l bounderies. that is what tpp is! coorporations can do as they please with no redress from the locals. this is why there is no much cohesion between the countries.

look up agenda 21, codex alimentarus. research the three alternative doctors who have died this week, look at what Cali just signed into law this week, the forced medicating, the forced sodomy rhgts, its a society that is being forced into mass depopulation.

yes, they'll have a few feminist fools that don't have a traditional family who become tools for ridiculous bans like this, but look at the whole picture of what they are doing, transition the west into the new order where gov is the higher power, the family, in their eyes, must be divided, and each transgendered soul obedient to them and their agenda.

I know these are things people do not want to hear, but there are purposes behind this degeneration of society.

The UN may want to rethink that one. They wouldn't want to possibly interfere with the "rights" of the sadomasochists betwixt one another or,conceivably, eliminate all of those twisted public displays of sodomite bondage acts during parades and such. (please take in the sarcastic vein that this is written).
Seriously though, those could be potential issues.

From the news:

Sounds like "international law" was perfectly made for breaking. And what are "children's commissioners"?

Uh-oh...America is creeping into the UK. I was surprised to read that this is international law though. Anyway, if a parent here merely spanks a child, for all the right reasons, the parent will be arrested for battery, if reported, and child services will get involved to protect the child from the abusive parent. The kids know this and they call the cops themselves. I know there are a lot of bad parents and that kids do need to be protected from these, but the country has gone way too far with it's meddling amd gestapo type mindset.
The more ungodly a society becomes, the more regulations it needs, to the point of suffocating private judgment, liberty of conscience, family stewardship, individual initiative and respect.
