This Is How TSA Decides if You Might Be Acting Like a Terrorist
Next time you go through airport security, do your best to avoid yawning, whistling, or complaining too much: Any of those behaviors could make you look like a terrorist in the eyes of a Transportation Security Administration screening agent, according to newly disclosed government documents.
A secret 92-point checklist, obtained and published Friday by The Intercept, reveals for the first time what kind of passenger behavior can merit a red flag for TSA agents responsible for pulling possible terrorists and criminals out of airport security lines.
The checklist reveals a step-by-step process for assessing whether passengers deserve additional scrutiny. Those deemed suspicious under "observation and behavior analysis" are pulled aside and searched for "unusual items" such as almanacs and prepaid calling cards. During the inspection, TSA agents are also instructed to look for "signs of...
The opposite ends of the political spectrum are coming together over the war on terror, but not in the way Attorney General John Ashcroft may have wanted.
Some conservative groups are finding common ground with organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union and the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, expressing concerns about the effect that the USA Patriot Act and a possible follow-up law, the Domestic Security Enhancement Act, could have on civil liberties.
Conservatives criticize Bush's spending, anti-terrorism law
January 25, 2004|By NEW YORK TIMES NEWS SERVICE
The topic of one panel discussion was "GOP Success: Is It Destroying the Conservative Movement?" and another debated whether the administration's anti-terrorism efforts were endangering individuals' rights to privacy and freedom
Critics in Congress and civil libertarians, including some conservatives, say the Patriot Act was a classic case of overreach, threatening privacy and due process through new powers that the FBI and other agencies had sought unsuccessfully for years

I know who created this, and you'll find no post of mine in support of it. Like I said before, we have to be able to distinguish between conservative and neo. Let liberals and neoscons, (who I referred to earlier as lib wannabees) do the generalizing, that shouldn't be for us.
my dear sister pennned, first I hope and pray that you and yours are doing well.
You are moving the pieces on the chessboard. You rightly pin the blame for the implementation of this on the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld administration and even the Republican controlled congress that authorized it. That however is not what your post (3/28/15 10:20 AM) was lamenting. You were insinuating that conservatives were quiet when it was implemented and only speak up now because there is a liberal in the office. "how come the conservatives are only awake when a liberal is in power" You asked, so I answered.
What both Mike and I said, is that we weren't. The conservatives with whom I regularly associate (who discuss politics) were not okay with the "Patriot Act" because a so called conservative was in office. Now maybe that is not your experience, but please don't paint conservatives with such a broad brush and say when the "right" people were in power we sat in silence.
I don't spend a lot of time criticizing the previous administration here because Jim makes up for that all by himself. The article could be how an asteroid missed the earth by just 600,000 miles and he would find a way to fault Bush.
They forgot to add: if you're an elderly lady in a wheelchair. And,of course,we know that if you have your face totally covered and you're muslim that you won't have to consider the aforementioned (what might make a TSA suspicious);that would be "profiling". Maybe those who don't want to be prodded can dress like a muslim.
Thanks for posting this. I have moved to south america and this is one of the reasons, I refuse to be controlled and have the threat of violence, prison, forced computer accessing, and or property confiscation put upon me merely for existing in their hellish Satanic Marxist police state.
well Mike, I don't take you for one with a selective memory.... who sold the NAKED body scams, I mean, scans on the American people? Chertoff? what were his financial ties to the company (were they his clients?). was this not what lead to the invasive, enhanced pat downs inside people's clothes (when they dared to "opt out"?) - these pat downs that if I described them my post would be scrubbed?
now let's look at Chertoff? was he the head of dhs before his media ventures? did he coauthor the patriot act?
who created dhs/tsa and centralized police powers remaking the rep? (hint: it wasn't ob)
p., those who trade freedom for so-called security are foolish. I don't recall when I've thought or said otherwise.
Now to those who treasure this imaginary security, ask what do you think of when you hear the term "maximum security"? Liberals and their clinger wannabees, who say we must balance liberty with the need for security, are dense ignorers of history, and liars unfit for the rough seas of freedom. Liberty is not for sale. If you won't take risks to be free, what is it your security is protecting? You want a nice secure police state? Go somewhere with high walls, and leave the rest of us alone.
i am going to take it that you have little or no contact in your life with conservatives. We were all complaining about this stuff from the get go in my neck of the woods and I am sure Mike from NY would say the same. Maybe your definition of a conservative is Jim from Lincoln. Only blind follower posting here is John Yurich.
where was the response to the naked body scanners? wasn't that Chertoff's baby? how come the conservatives are only awake when a liberal is in power? this kind of thinking where abuses of power are "good" one minute, when grandpas getting his colonoscopy bag handled or baby is being strip searched, that's ok when a conservative is in office, but suddenly egrarious when a liberal is in office? you can take plans from yrs ago with dhs where those who love the old rep are considered t's.... this is what dhs was created for. but blaming one party or another, ridiculous! who passes this stuff? if they didn't have the conservatives scared as little sheep of men in caves with kidney failure, we might still have our freedoms..... well great, now we're "safe". you know who else is safe? a herd of cows crammed into a barn filled with antibiotics eating gm grain!?! lo and behold a few of those cows remember greener pastures. back in the USSA. we had a generation who felt "safe" being handled, taking shoes off, having their body scanned or physically patted down under the clothes line... "hands up" folks, do you all understand what that means when you are holding your hands up? think about it!
