CNN Anchor: ‘Our Rights Do Not Come From God’

During a heated discussion over gay marriage, CNN morning Anchor Chris Cuomo opined that the unalienable rights endowed to all Americans do not come from God.

Cuomo was debating Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage. Near the end of the back-and-forth and after Moore argued that rights cannot be handed down by men, Cuomo blurted out:

From the article --- ... the Declaration of Independence clearly affirms:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”

It may be more convenient to Cuomo’s political philosophy that a select few are empowered to grant rights to the masses, but it certainly is not part of this country’s foundation. ...

It's a dangerous proposition when people forget where they came from and that which made them great as a nation

You obviously aren't capable of even low-power logic. You say they are "sad and silly" if they believe in free will; yet if they really do not have free will then you should not blame them for believing they have free will because obviously they can't help it! Do you Calvinists not see the extreme stupidity of your doctrine?

I was amused and offended at the same time! Amused, because this s a typical Liberal statement.Offended, because Cuomo could not be more deluded if he had tried! The initial commenter is right.Chris Cuomo will one day discover how lost he was!

I suppose he is one of those sad and silly people who believe in the "free will" of man.

You will also find many such people go to churches. And are even convinced they are Christian???

The power and influence which prevents man from knowing he is a sinner is sin itself.

"Psalm 37:10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked."

Mike of N.Y., not to wholly pick an argument with you, but one should remember while people like the priest Eli had some faults, and apparently he didn't raise his worthless priestly sons correctly, I would think perhaps these verses could very well be applied to him,

Jeremiah 31
29 "In those days they will not say again, 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children's teeth are set on edge.'

But, unfortunately, it is usually the case that the fathers and sons don't learn from each other mistakes, such as the Grahams, but support each other in their errors. So, think of my comment as a proviso to what you said, because all too often in a bad way, it is like father like son.

John Y., one of us at the very least must be slipping -- when we're in agreement again.

Prideful Chris is doing his deceased dad Mario and brother and current NY governor Andrew proud. I guess he doesn't see the self-evident truth that America's founding fathers saw. Chris is also a lawyer like our homosexual affirming President and sleepy senile homosexual marrying Supreme Ginsburg. These types of lawyers can care less about our Constitution and even less about any God-given rights we might have. We are sinking deeper into a Biblical Judges like situation (pun intended) where these judges only pass and defend laws that are right in their own eyes and forget about any government for the people and of the people. Nevertheless I am sure that the Judge of all the earth will have the last gavel.
