Newsweek's slam of the Bible 'irresponsible'

A Newsweek cover article calling conservative evangelicals "God's frauds" and characterizing the Bible as full of errors has drawn a range of corrective responses from Baptist commentators.

"When Newsweek, now back in print under new ownership, let loose its first issue of the New Year on the Bible, I held out the hope that the article would be fair, journalistically credible, and interesting, even if written from a more liberal perspective," R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, wrote in a Dec. 29 blog post. "But Newsweek's cover story is nothing of the sort. It is an irresponsible screed of post-Christian invective leveled against the Bible and, even more to the point, against evangelical Christianity. It is one of the most irresponsible articles ever to appear in a journalistic guise."

Appearing on the Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" Dec. 30, Mohler said ...

What a pathetic magazine not even worth the paper its printed on. I did not realize they hired lousy fiction writers as staffers.

Why do Christians even buy Newsweek and other anti-righteous, anti-Biblical magazines that indoctrinate us with world views?
Why do Christians even bother to have television and other forms of entertainment in their diet?
It is time for us to wake up out of our sleep and draw people in the streets into rational, reasonable, intellectual debates about the Bible with sound doctrine. E.g. evangelize. And above all with meekness and in the spirit of humility and love. Pray. Pray. Pray that God's will be done.

For more details on why the Newsweek article should be ignored read, ]]http://www.biblebb.com/files/howbible.htm (How We Got Our Bible). Also, another article that directly answers the question, ]]How Accurate is the Bible? and it does a good job doing it.

Ignore Newsweek, Time, PBS, ABC, and the History Channel when it comes to Christianity. There hostility towards Christianity, make them willfully ignorant.

Do you notice how ignorant the reprobates are?
Eph 4:17 ... as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Psalm 37:1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Newsweek is certainly under the guidance of Satan to print such trash pertaining to the Bible.
John, Newsweek is under the sovereign control of God not the devil. You give far too much authority and power to the devil. Christians are not dualists.
Even when Shimei cursed David it was under Gods rule and purpose 2Sam16:9-11.
Such articles printed by ungodly men do give the people of God the opportunity to speak the truth in love in reply to such lies.
We are to use even what seams negative for the positive proclamation of the gospel. All given by and under the rule of Almighty God and for his glory, venting our spleen on them is not Christ like love.
