Schools Transformed by the Power of Meditation

While Kappenhagen recognizes that "there is no magic wand in education, just like in life," meditation has been found to increase focus and stimulate a sense of calm, not just during the quiet time, but also for the rest of the day, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Kappenhagen says he know's he can't change the environment the students live in when they're not at school, but he's glad he's discovered a way to "help our students find ways to deal with violence and the trauma and the stress of everyday life." ...

Reminds me of the new focus on contemplative prayer, and even yoga classes within the church. So many are always searching for something new and interesting to soar to new levels, keep members, and draw new ones in. Wrong as it all is, I understand the hiuman need by many and draw to feel closer to God because living quietly by faith just seems too boring, I guess. I think Gods Word alone is plenty interesting and enough as it can be studied over a lifetime and still never mastered. Mixing in age old new age is something that all pastors, well, they should all know better than that.

True meditation isn't what the Buddhist and other worldly religions have made it out to be where you go into like a trance and see visions and junk but in the true Bible every time it talks about meditation its speaking about thinking dwelling giving all your thought to the word of God gettin your focus off this world and putting it all on Christ thats what true meditation is
Well, I have had lots of experience with new age meditation and I agree with your thoughts on this; thanks. They blank their minds or call upon their spirit guides, we think about our holy and righteous God and what He is telling us from His word.

Meditation makes the brain spongy. But the practices often involve more than simple biblical meditation, which is conscious meditation on the content and application of Scripture." --Ankerberg & Weldon. Eastern meditation isn't practiced by the Christian, anywhere.
