BioLogos pushes to change the way Christians read Genesis

Just a five-minute stroll from the campus of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., sits the brown brick building that is home since last year to BioLogos, a foundation pushing churches and believers to embrace evolution, and in the process change how they read the Bible.

The brainchild of Francis Collins, who now heads the National Institutes of Health, BioLogos has taken in nearly $9 million from the Templeton Foundation and millions more from other donors. BioLogos in turn offers grants to church, parachurch, and academic leaders and organizations that promote “evolutionary creation.”

BioLogos president Deb Haarsma, former chair of Calvin’s physics and astronomy department, says churches that support evolution will be more effective witnesses in a culture that reveres science, and will help college students avoid a crisis of faith when biology professors argue for evolution. The BioLogos ...

I might as well add this,
Gil Rugh said or, wrote:
This is an overview of the book of Genesis. It how the book fits together. The Septuagint is the origin for the title of the book. The New Testament writers used the Septuagint that was in Greek as their Bible. Genesis introduces the sovereign God. It tells how everything began and how Israel began. The main theme is the origin of everything, such as human race, the nations, and the nation that God, Who has always existed as one God but three persons, is working with the redemptive plan focused on Israel. The human author for Genesis is Moses. By faith, we understand that all Scripture is God-breathed, inspired.

Major divisions come between believers and unbelievers when it comes to understanding what the Bible says and the authority it has. When unbelievers study the Word of God, even in the original languages, they cannot understand what it says apart from first coming into a personal relationship with its Author. Understanding the Word of God doesn't come through human faculties but by, and through, the Holy Spirit of God.

Differences in Bible interpretation surface when there are inconsistencies in how different parts of the Scriptures are interpreted. Less consistency in approaching different genre results in more interpretations and less understanding of what the Bible actually says. Consistency in hermeneutics dissolves differences over what the Bible says.

Yes churches will be more effective witnesses by embracing evolution.... yeah right .... Paul our beloved Apostle told the circumsision group that he wishes that they would go the whole way and emasclate them selves... My wish is if the thestic evolution group would take a que form Paul. Have they seen the people diserting the church in droves for the most part it's the secular humanism that the American brand of theraputic self help dieism that they are peddling. Evolution is already in the church and it Is a terrible witness. It says Gods word is unreliable... enough is enough. Go a head boys cut em' off.

Ah Geoff, that other thread on the Church of England must tweaked your memory?
Charles Spurgeon's friend? [AUTHOR]the State Church, which the great reformers had planted, and which some of them had watered with their blood, presented the spectacle which went far to justify the sarcasm of an eminent writer, that she possessed "A Popish Liturgy, a Calvinistic Creed, and an Arminian Clergy."

"For God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against all godlessness and unrighteousness of people who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth, since what can be known about God is evident among them, because God has shown it to them.

For His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what He has made.

As a result, people are without excuse.

For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or show gratitude.

Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless minds were darkened.

Claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles.

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen."

Very well said fellow Floridian! Christ is interested in who "we say he is", not the fellow standing in front of us with all his diplomas and oratorical skills. Those that teach this heresy will answer before a just and holy God and those that listen and agree with them will do the same.

Well said Pennnnnnned.

If you want to get a better grasp on the selling out, the spiritual betrayal of Jesus Christ that is going on

Do some research into those who have taken Templeton Prize for Progress IN RELIGION and what that means

Hint: this prize is NOT for the advancement of Christianity

I don't know if others will get the same impression as me, but the progression of the changes in theology on this subject remind me of C.H. Spurgeon's Downgrade Controversy. The departure in his day from essential biblical truth became a downgrade to those churches and persons who left the biblical teachings to the point where some even denied the Lord. Here in this controversy we see well meaning believers, one here, one there, but a common theme in departure from biblical teaching and down, down the grade it seems to go until one has denied Adam even existed at all. This my brethren, I fear, will lead to a denial of the Lord Jesus. If the first Adam need not be a literal person in order to hold orthodox belief, then soon neither will the Second Adam need to be literal to hold to orthodox redemption.
