TV campaign for gay equality starting in Miss
Mary Jane Kennedy considers herself a conservative Christian Republican, and she's led Bible studies in her native Mississippi for decades. She's also the mother of two gay sons and one of the faces in a new advertising campaign aimed at softening religious opposition in the Deep South to equal rights for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

The Washington-based Human Rights Campaign is taking on the region's longstanding church-based opposition to homosexuality in a series of groundbreaking television commercials, direct-mail messages and phone-bank operations designed to promote equality and legal protections for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi.

TV commercials will begin airing Monday in Jackson, the state's largest city and prime media market, with Kennedy featured as a mom who struggled to understand her own sons' ...

Agree Louise and Lady Virtue....
As one has rightly spoken:

It's time for bible believing preachers to tell their people to dump their TV's. If they want to keep them, disconnect from cable and network tv and just use it to play movies. There is NOTHING that a person will miss by doing this. Any worthwhile programming or real news (not scripted propaganda) can be found on the internet. Time to disconnect from this weapon of satan and get this accursed object out of our homes
I cannot disagree with this at all. I've been TV-less for five years and have largely replaced it with more Bible reading and listening to preaching here on SA. God has blessed me and grown me as a result, even as He continues to work in me.

Are you serious with this nonsense that there is no worthwhile programming on cable and network television? There is a situation comedy on ABC called The Middle that is a wholesome and family oriented program. And then there is the Waltons television show that is wholesome and family oriented. And then there are Evangelical Protestant services on television.

Now Mike; you are guilty of applying biblical logic to this issue.
I wonder which of the below is the one that culture is trying to legitimize.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10. nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Goldrunner, I liked your comment and others here as well.
I like your Bible verses, Frank You can use secular arguments as well to what is offensive to God and unnatural in the natural world as well. I wonder if she would have the same struggle, and come to the same conclusion if they were practicing child molesters or adulterers? If not, why not? All you have to do is redefine the sexual sin, and you're good. Would she say go and sin some more, as she is doing? How loving.

Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works (Revelation 2: 20-23).
Deep South take warning. Mary Jane Kennedy take warning. Let all who have an ear to hear take warning.

Oh boy. An 8.5M effort to confront and comfort the "religious" attitude towards sodomy and the sodomite plight. Oh, and spearheaded by yet another Christian who found out, in this case, her sons were homosexual. Then there is the planned followup campaign; God lives all his children. Hmmm.

I have a nephew who is homosexual, and Roman Catholic, but I know his end should he die in his sins. The key is prayer and honesty...not some campaign or a mass exodus from God's Word with the hope that the numbers will force Him to change His position on the matter (I guess).

What I noticed in the article it said this is being done to combat religious church based opposition to sodomy. So I am to believe in these states they are targeting there no non-Christians against sodomy just Christians. This is the South, the Bible belt but it's hard to believe that your messaging is aimed at one only group. I guess the sentiment is remove GOD then the stigma will go away and everybody will be gay and happy.

Sure gays have all the rights that we heterosexuals. But the equal rights that gays are referring is marriage between two homosexuals.
