Air Force Oath Officially Stripped Of Required Reference To God
In response to the threat of a lawsuit by the atheist group American Humanist Association, the U.S. Air Force has decided to allow recruits to drop the phrase “so help me God” from his or her oath upon enlisting.
According to a Washington Times report, the controversy arose last month when the branch did not allow an atheist airman who left out the clause to reenlist. After AHA took on the individual’s cause, the USAF reconsidered its position.
