Ukraine in crisis: Russian forces seize control of Crimea
Contributor:
A day after Ukraine's interim prime minister called Russia's military intervention "a declaration of war," Russian forces have "complete operational control of the Crimean peninsula," U.S. officials say. Meanwhile, armed Russian troops have arrived in other Ukrainian cities.

Robert Gates, President Obama's former defense secretary and author of a book that was critical of the administration, has weighed in on the crisis in the Ukraine. His message to Obama: Watch the rhetoric. "The stronger the rhetoric, the greater expectation of strong action," Gates told Reuters.

"From Putin's standpoint, he's in the catbird's seat," Gates said. "He's put himself in a position where we need him in terms of the Syrian chemical (weapons) deal. We need him in terms of the Iranian nuclear program. We need the Russians in terms of getting our (military) equipment out of Afghanistan." ...

Jim,

You had to did deep to find a new item to tie your commentary to but your motivation is clear.

Be careful. We'll not tolerate intentional baiting which will assuredly lead to incivility.

[Trump] seems to understand that if you produce a steady stream of sufficiently stupefying statements, there will be no time to dwell on any one of them, and the net effect on the public will be numbness and ennui . So, for example, while the nation has been considering his interesting decision to try to expand his appeal by attacking Gold Star parents, little attention has been paid to this: Vladimir Putin’s occupation of Crimea has escaped Trump’s notice.
It is , surely, somewhat noteworthy that someone aspiring to be this nation’s commander in chief has somehow not noticed the fact that for two years now a sovereign European nation has been being dismembered ....

Penny, I'm sure that the Europeans can hurt Russia financially more than Russia can do the other way around, for the present anyway. If Russia develops a large oil market in China, Russia will be harder to pressure to do something.

We pick up that title of the queen of heaven and associate it with doctrines relating to the virgin Mary. You see here that the worship of the queen of heaven antedates Christ by at least 500 years because Jeremiah the prophet is condemning it in Israel. We will have an apostate worship system in the 70th week of Daniel in which the Catholic church is going to play a key role. The protestant church is also going to play a key role. But the indication would seem to be that the Roman Catholic church will be leading the way. The protestant church is every bit as pagan in it's practices but does not have the solidified power that the Roman church has.

Constantine establish Constantinople in the east,Is that what you are referring to? I believe the Antichrist of Scripture has been active for sometime now. I believe that the pope not as an individual pontiff but the papacy is that man of sin who sits in the temple of God as if he were God, spoken of in 2 Thes 2. Of the pontiff it's been said: (in Latin of course) 'whom they (the cardinals) create they worship'.

I believe the Antichrist to be the complex moral person which includes the beast, which Scripture clearly indicates in many places of the Old and New Testament is a secular world dominion and his image the false prophet(the papacy)and an apostate church the Roman Church and her harlot daughters of Protestantism.

I'm not alone in this understanding, there may be some variation of this amongst the reformed Churches. There are those who believe it is solely the papacy. I believe that hard to support from Revelation 17 and the prophet Daniel as well as other OT prophets. Often times the angel interprets the symbolic vision of the prophets and when that is the case the interpretation stands.

What ridiculous comments, though not all.
The Cold War never ended - the US is fomenting revolutions left and right and Russia is trying to maintain the status quo, as opposed to when it was the USSR.
Putin, a hard man, is the closest we have to a strong conservative leader in the Western world, and yes, you ignoramuses, Russia is a western country and has been for far longer than the US has existed.
A multi-polar world is necessary where the US government (the USG) can't do as it pleases around the world. The USG has crossed the line, and set fire in Russia's backyard.
Russia has only taken control of its home territory. There hasn't been any invasion.
American Christians' knowledge of the world is embarrassing.

Don't kid yourself mourner; the Pope is no little horn. One of his heads was wounded during the reformation; now a Second beast is coming up out of the earth-the Pentecostal church. Check it out.

Quotes from the article:

"the West is facing the prospect of a new Cold War with Russia because that seems to be right in Putin’s KGB-bred comfort zone. And the thing about a Cold War is that there’s no guarantee it won’t become a hot one."

"U.S. and Russian ambassadors exchanged sharp words at the United Nations in New York on Monday."

"What is happening today is a dangerous military intervention in Ukraine," Power continued. "It is an act of aggression. It must stop."

The Russian aggression even towards the United States is part of the increased militancy of Russia which will occur until that militancy reaches the point that Russia with a group of allies will attack Israel.

In spite of what you may have heard that Russian, with her allies, attack of Israel is what is dealt with prophetically in Ezekiel 38 and 39.

It's not a secular power, it must be a heretical ecclesiastical force that wields power over the kings of the world. It was the Pope which is the head of the beast.
Not according to the prophet Daniel 7:8 the pope is a little horn. A horn is not the head, the seven headed beast are seven forms of government that were over the last bestial power of the old Roman Empire, referred to in Nebuchadnezzar's dream the feet of clay mixed with iron, the ten toes. This is clearly a reference to world dominions. Rev.13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Revelation uses earth as contrasted with heaven when speaking of the Church. The Church of the earth is the apostate church and the beast of the earth is a lamb like deceiver false prophet with two horns or kingdoms.

The pagan persecuting head of the Roman Empire suffered a fatal wound when Constantine professed Christianity and persecution ceased. Five of the forms of government over the Roman Empire had already come to pass in John's day, he was well aware of the persecuting power that exiled him to Patmos.

Mourner writes:
'he has power' the second beast of the earth in the sight of the first beast of the sea; which I believe is a secular civil power like the Roman Empire of old.

It's not a secular power, it must be a heretical ecclesiastical force that wields power over the kings of the world. It was the Pope which is the head of the beast. It was one of these heads that was wounded by the reformer Martin Luther. It suffered a mortal wound and did live. Now the second beast is the Pentecostal church. It is going to unite with the first beast and cause it's members to receive the Pope's mark.
