Obama Administration: We Can and Will Force Christians to Act Against Their Faith
In a legal argument formally presented in federal court in the case of Hobby Lobby v. Kathleen Sebelius, the Obama administration is claiming that the First Amendment—which expressly denies the government the authority to prohibit the “free exercise” of religion—nonetheless allows it to force Christians to directly violate their religious beliefs even on a matter that involves the life and death of innocent human beings.

Because federal judges—including Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor—have refused to grant an injunction protecting the owners of Hobby Lobby from being forced to act against their Christian faith, those owners will be subject to federal fines of up to $1.3 million per day starting Tuesday for refusing to include abortion-inducing drugs in their employee health plan. ...

"They [David Green and the Hobby Lobby] really are doing the right thing. Moreover, they are putting their necks on the line for the rest of us. I hope that fact is not lost on anyone who cares about religious liberty. They are assuming all the risk right now and stand to lose a lot. But if they win, we will all reap the benefit."
-Denny Burk, Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Boyce College, the undergraduate arm of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY

The list of 110 Christians suing Obama doesn't include a single "preacher boy." Where are the Gill Rugh's and John MacArthur's and R.C. Sproul's? Not a single preacher boy to be found in harm's way.
The three preacher boys never sued anyone, they trusted in God, even if God permitted them to be burnt alive in the fiery furnace. I don't quite see your point.

p.s. I am a preacher boy who has been in harm's way on many occasions, and I do not care what the world does to me, if God permits it. So long as he stands with me in the fire, there is no limit to what I would endure for him.

p.p.s. For those who prayed about the evangelistic gathering in town today, may I say that it was an amazing success, and the Lord was present to bless so many who came. Good things will come of this, I am sure.

California alone enjoys the world's 8th largest economy, a population in the tens of millions and thousands of pastors but not a Christian preacher willing to defend faith and freedom? Yet the Sons of Liberty stood against a few percent tax hike on their tea?

Well said. I would like to know why we are hearing so little uproar from the Christian community. We are truly lambs led to the slaughter. What comes next, I suppose, is jail time for Christian employers refusing to bow to Neb's 60 cubit image.
Maybe there's no uproar because folks are following the example of the three young preacher boys.

dear abortives r us,

what a fitting name, and yes, even pastors need to repent for the little ones in heaven -- this generation is so given over to darwin, they know not and see not.

unless otherwise said, I can only assume that churches that teach the rendering of anything Caesar asks, will now offer their children to Molech. they are in a conundrum. after hearing this false teaching for years, I assumed this day would come, and it has.

I wonder about the Christian leaders, especially pastors who have pacified their people to be silent, to turn a blind eye, in order to "honor God", will turn from this hypocrisy, or if the 501 church will indeed become the state church as we saw in China.

the irony is that the pill itself has three mechanisms, the third of which is abortifacient, which makes sense when you quit looking at the human body through Darwin's eyes and more through scripture -- one body many parts, not just many parts.

for many on here, they can see that this question about rendering to Caesar is much more than a practicality. if we give to Caesar what is Christ's, such as children.... it is idolatry.

do I sound over the top? with headlines such as "we will force Christians to act against their faith", I am hardly over the top.

At least the Greens' denomination prohibits them from rendering their unborn children to Caesar by destroying them via abortifacients. Does Jim's church have any prohibition whatsoever against abortifacients or even abortion? If not, his pastor will have to give an account for all of the children snuffed out.

Why should the Greens have to sell their business when it is the government that is overstepping the boundaries of the Greens constitutionally guaranteed rights? Besides the fact that President Obama has given many exemptions to all his union buddies and their businesses.

He and his people, above and below, along with those of the past, have already succeeded.

Someday this will be the "norm" and any believer who questions or refuses "health insurance" will be regarded as mad or a conspiracy theorist yada yada yada. You know, and you know who you alls are too!

Just look at the birth certificate, ss#, and marriage license to name a few. These are vigorously and passionately defended by professed believers.

Jennifer from MI, right on.

Hobby Lobby makes a point of listing its charitable ]]donees.
Sounds like they're trying to be both a business & some sort of parachurch financier. I'm not sure the latter is necessary. Want a good witness? Mind the little things: Pay creditors & employees on time, pay taxes, be respectful of customers & staff (Golden Rule), insist on ethical conduct in all things, & God will be glorified in commerce w/o making a big deal about being Christian.

Here's food for thought, from the Pujo Committee transcript, ca. 1907:
Untermyer: Is not commercial credit based primarily upon money or property?
Morgan: No, sir. The first thing is character.
Untermyer: Before money or property?
Morgan: Before money or anything else. Money cannot buy it … a man I do not trust could not get money from me on all the bonds in Christendom.

hobby lobby is a corporation specifically organized as a separate 'person' from its founder. do corporations have faith? does the founder wish to rejoin his identity to the corporate entity he created? I am sure he prefers it's independent existence. his choice!

I personally believe that the administration is not smart enough to have any grand design behind all of this. Though they think they're on top of all of it, we know that they are being led by the nose.
Nevertheless; once the law of the land supplants the Word of God... we are seeing first hand that 'the elements of reason have no power to secure their just application'.
