Church Touts Homosexuality as a Gift, Not a Sin?
Being gay is a gift from God, asserts one church in Ohio.

That’s the message that Central United Methodist Church is spreading throughout their community via a digital billboard, launched on Monday.

This ‚Äúsimple statement,‚ÄĚ the church announced, is ‚Äúintended to be a gift to those who have experienced hurt and discrimination because of their real or perceived sexual orientation.‚ÄĚ

/QUOTE]That was obvious, and I was grateful you responded.

But there was probably a reason why they choose to also introduce both slavery as sin and their conception of gender equality as righteous.

I assumed; possibly wrongly so, that it was related to the other posts and since I was posting, I was trying to follow the flow of everything being said. That is why I asked, if you thought that 1 Tim. 2:11 was related to men and woman posting their understanding of doctrine which they apply while discussing News stories. Often it seems doctrine takes the preeminence and the story a back seat. But is that surprising in the times in which we live, since doctrine is so relative?

As to slavery? The Bible version is clearly different to man's sinful application of it in history. But then that is what man usually does anyway, adding sin to all he does.

Your "woman to interact in this context" - What context? What is your point?

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

GOD says
(Women)
1Tim 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."

The Bible is GOD's holy Word. GOD wrote the Bible.

If homosexuality is a gift from God, why is it that when Israel did evil there were sodomites in the land, and when they obeyed God sodomites were removed?

1Kings 14:22a; 24a, "And Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord..." "And there were also sodomites in the land..."

1Kings 15:11-12a, "And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land..."

Such a grievous thing how those who claim the name of Christ trample It under their feet! May God have Mercy on their souls.

MAV, well, you got a good point there. My family repented of involvement with abortive contraceptions and also invovlement in industries that use aborted fetal cells to "make our children healthy".

Some look at these things as "issues" instead of seeing how we are immersed in a culture of death. Some think the Muslem has to rescind his faith to become a Christian but we can go along living like everyone eles in the Darwininan eugenic culture and come up smelling like roses!

If repentance from sin (e.g., homosexuality, murder, etc.) is now part of the Evangelical Gospel (Faith Alone), then mustn't we first repent of our ubiquitous use of]] abortifacient birth control?

Isn't the use of an abortive contraceptive also a sin and not a gift?

Doesn't judgment always begin in the House of God?

MAV,

I didn't think I heard anyone say that they believe otherwise. But to be justified would mean admitting that you have offended a Holy God and need to be justified in the courts of heaven, as well as a church court on earth,in the visible church or when stubborn men persist in open rebellion against their Creator a civil court judgment would be necessary lest they disrupt society.

If God has begun an effectual work in a sinner of any heaven defying crime, the sinner is drawn to the gospel and the Lord provides a knowledge of their sin, their substitute, and changes their will to embrace Jesus Chrsit freely offered in the gospel. Otherwise it is a merchandising in men's souls.

The posts below are not off topic but do you have the ability to see how that is?

Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Jude v7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

But then the Methodist Church cares little about the Bible, like it's mother the AV it believes in Church tradition, and I would also add Church conferences. The Bible is the short leg on what is suppose to be a three-legged stool that this church sits on.

"The purposes of their recently launched campaign are threefold: to offer welcome to all persons who are gay; to challenge the larger Church to fully accept persons who are gay into the life of the Church; and to call on all people to bring all the gifts of who they are to God."

This is narrow-minded intolerance. They are discriminating against those who have the gift of child abuse, porn addiction, adultery, theft, murder. Bigots.

It will be interesting to see what the denomination does about this, if anything.
Agreed Rick, but it is the violations of first table commandments which is synonymous with spiritual fornication and the downward progression that is why I stressed the hereditary warning of the second commandment.

Spiritual violations precede second table violations not the other way around. Romans 1 is dealing with those under the Triune Jehovah's Creation mandate. But Paul in another place speaks to believers

1 Cor. 10:7-12
Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

They say that Homosexuality is a gift from God, and that gays, lesbians, bi's and transgenders strengthen the body of Christ.

Why stop there? Why not say that Adulterers, fornicators, lairs, and cheats do the same?

It will be interesting to see what the denomination does about this, if anything.
