Elementary School Students Taught to Sing Praises of President Obama
The superintendent of a New Jersey school where students were videotaped being taught to sing the praises of President Obama issued a statement Thursday saying the taping was unauthorized, but failed to address whether the the lesson -- taught durnig Black History Month -- was approved.
A YouTube video shows nearly 20 young children being led in a song overflowing with campaign slogans and praise for "Barack Hussein Obama," repeatedly chanting the president's name and celebrating his accomplishments, including his "great plans" to "make this country's economy No. 1 again."
The video has set off families in Burlington, N.J., who say that politics shouldn't be forced on young students.

We should find it disgusting, because we are only to worship One, the true One. As Corrie Ten Boom used to say, "the only place where we can live as one in peace is in the Kingdom of God" (I think I got that mostly right!) The world is looking to who they will put their trust in. Without Christ, who do we have but a fellow man to look to? But Christians do not have to be duped! Only other example I can think of that's even close to this is when (If I remember right) a group of young people sang praises to President Nixon when he returned from China.
Something like "...we love you, president. Oh yes we do..." (to Nixon, who was present at the time).
My left-of-center family groaned and rolled their eyes when we saw a re-run of this event in a TV doccumentary of Nixon's life a few years back.
I do admit that when I was in grade school we DID practically venerate Lincoln and Washington, but I don't remember singing any hymns or praise songs to them.
I don't remember ever singing praises to a sitting president, which I'm told that they often do in places like North Korea and Cuba.
Even if these kids were singing praises to Reagan or (gasp!) Bush, I would still find it disgusting, even though I'm very conservative myself.
