Kirk minister to stay in post until report on gay clergy
A Church of Scotland minister who threatened to quit after the appointment of a gay clergyman is to stay in his post until the outcome of a special commission on the issue is revealed.
Reverend Tony Foreman of the Old Kirk in Edinburgh initiated the first stages of demitting his position over the controversial approval of the appointment of Reverend Scott Rennie to a church in Aberdeen in May.
But Rev Foreman told the Edinburgh Presbytery this week that he would stay pending the outcome of the special commission, which is to report to in two years time to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland after examining the subject.
