Bob Barr: Repeal Defense of Marriage Act
Former Republican Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia, author of the Defense of Marriage Act signed into law by President Clinton, now says the statute overreaches the federal government's constitutional power and needs to be repealed.

The Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, establishes the definition of marriage for federal purposes as only between one man and one woman and further clarifies that no state need recognize a same-sex marriage from any other state.

Barr introduced the law to the House of Representatives in 1996, but now says ‚Äď regardless of any opinion on same-sex marriage itself ‚Äď that the law gets in the way of states that do wish to legalize homosexual unions. ...

It seems to me that Barr, being a politician, has tested the winds and feels that the best chance to gain a public office is to side with the homosexual agenda rather than doing what he knows to be right. In my heart I too have a "live and let live" philosophy of life. I think if the homosexuals keep it all to themselves, they are more than welcome to prance their way right in to Hell. After all it's been said many times that everyone deserves to hear the gospel at least once before one gets to hear it twice. If the Homos want to deny Christ and go to Hell then let them, but the problem is that they won't keep it to themselves. If the nation allows same sex marriage, then the nation approves/endorses sin. The nation, which I am unfortunately a part of, is then judged as sinful and reaps the wages that it has earned. Look at how bad things are for most Americans now. Could we be under judgement? I'm sure the millions of unborn babies that we have killed as a nation are making their cases to God every day. BTW as long as abortion is legal in the US then we are swallowing the camel anyway.
You are correct that the USA is under the judgement of God for allowing the wholesale murder of unborn babies.

"Barr described his shift from defender of moral values in government to a more live-and-let-live philosophy as a step away from alarmism."

Carnal lust and sin in the human condition if allowed to run free of control whether moral or spiritual, inevitably brings destruction to person, church and state.
The Lord does not have to punish man for his rampant iniquity, sin is punishment in itself.

23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off. Psalm 94.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Rom 1.

12 And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart. Jer 18.
