Obama skips church, heads to gym
President-elect Barack Obama has yet to attend church services since winning the White House earlier this month, a departure from the example of his two immediate predecessors.

On the three Sundays since his election, Obama has instead used his free time to get in workouts at a Chicago gym.

Asked about the president-elect's decision to not attend church, a transition aide noted that the Obamas valued their faith experience in Chicago but were concerned about the impact their large retinue may have on other parishioners.

"Because they have a great deal of respect for places of worship, they do not want to draw unwelcome or inappropriate attention to a church not used to the attention their attendance would draw," said the aide. ...

Obama is as white as he is black, freezing1. And that part of him is just as irrelevant as the black. It's his ideas that are flawed. Deal with it.

As soon as someone of deeper sun tan enters any focus in society; --- ALL criticism is then labelled racist.

This is a Christian site AND Scripture teaches us that their is only ONE race.

Try working in countries like Arabia and see real racism in action. They don't like black or white folks.

Perhaps it is you who chooses to see the color differences???

Why should any child of God not be against one who is openly in rebellion against Jesus Christ in things such as begin pro-abortion, even partial birth abortion, pro-homosexual, one who distorts the very words of Christ in the Sermon on the Mount to whitewash sin.

Barak Obama's skin color aint got a thing to do with it.

Yes! This man desperately needs the prayers of born again Christians (McCain does too) that he might repent of his sin and not live as an enemy of Christ and be saved and born again of the Holy Ghost and live to honor Him and not suffer the punishment of the eternal hell.

btw Freezing1
Have you been saved, born again? or just pretend to be?

I've heard that Obama NOW attends a Black African-American Pentecostal Church:

Isn't Attending a Black Pentecostal Church almost the same as Going To A Gym For A Workout Anyway ?

I mean, With All Their Jumping Up & Down; and A-Whooping & A-Hollering !

I Think Pentecostals, Especially Black-African-American Pentecostals, are Probably The Most Physically Fit Christians Walking On The Face of The Earth !

I would have to say that Baptists, Especially Black African-Amerian Baptists, Come in 2nd Place After Pentecostals.

And After The Baptists Come The Fundamentalist Presbyterians (Like Old Billy Sunday; who used to kick up his legs when he preached); and Then maybe The Plymouth Brethren !

The "Shouting Methodists" Went Out With A Whimpering Voice; When The Last of The Old "Shouting Methodists", BOB JONES SR., Passed-Away in 1968 !

It's said that Old Evangelist/Revivalist BOB JONES SR. used to Sweat Buckets of Sweat; when He Would Preach A Revival in The Grand Old Days of Fundamentalist Methodism:

Something that Obama going to the gym--would never be able to hold a candle to: let alone a wee wooden match!

*I DO, HOWEVER, KNOW A FIGHTING FUNDAMENTALIST METHODIST STREET PREACHER BY THE NAME OF CHUCK SPINGOLA !

Why does this not surprise me.
Obama's pastor gave an award to Louis Farrakan of the Nation of Islam cult.
Farrakan being a high level Mason in the same lodge as Robert Schuller and Robert Schuller heavily involved in the education of Rick Warren (thus Rick Warrens use of Schullers catch phrase the New Reformation) and Rick Warren taking on the Mantle of Billy Graham as America's Pastor, and Billy Graham denying Jesus Christ's uniqueness on Schullers Hour of Power. Hey it's like global jigsaw puzzle fun for the whole family.

Yes, Josh, but notice I did not say I skip church in favor of the gym. I go to the gym for relaxation and I understand Sunday to be a day of rest and relaxation so I see nothing wrong with going to the gym on Sunday. That's my interpretation of it anyway, but you are entitled to your opinion also and spend your Sunday as you see fit. I agree, Neil, concerning Ms. Palin.

It's the same as the word "Democracy" as soon as the politicians get into power they loose the use of that word.

Now that Obama has got his knees under the desk who cares, - and all this talk about his faith???

Luke 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Or let's imagine that Prez Palin attends a Pentecostal church in D.C., wherein personal revelation from God is taught & practiced. Shouldn't that worry us as much as Obama's exposure to Lib Theology?

Theology has consequences, & not just for Democrats. President McKinley told some Methodist clergymen in 1902, "I walked the floor of the White House night after night until midnight; ... I went down on my knees and prayed Almighty God for light and guidance more than one night. And one night it came to me this way - I don’t know how it was, but it came: (1) That we could not give [the Phillipine islands] back to Spain - that would be cowardly and dishonorable; (2) that we could not turn them over to France or Germany - our commercial rivals in the Orient - that would be bad business and discreditable; (3) that we could not leave them to themselves - they were unfit for self government - and they would soon have anarchy and misrule over there worse than Spain’s was; and (4) that there was nothing left for us to do but to take them all, and to educate the Filipinos, and uplift and civilize and Christianize them, and by God’s grace to do the best we could by them."

"...it may be dangerous to further expose him to pastoral leadership methods."

That's funny.

Given the sort of churches he & other recent Presidents have affiliated with, is his non-attendance really any worse? Besides, it may be dangerous to further expose him to pastoral leadership methods.

According to Wm. Manchester, Douglas MacArthur (baptized Episcopalian) never attended church, yet many "conservatives" wanted him to run for President after he was cashiered by Truman. BTW, he was also divorced.

He gets to hang out in the locker room and sauna with other guys...

I wonder where his close protection officers conceal their loaded pistols in the sauna?

Is it any wonder that Obama skips church for the gym when Christians go to the gym themselves on the Lord's Day? It's the Lord's "DAY" -- the entire day. Not just the part where we go to church.

The problem with this country isn't the president, or even the people -- the problem is the pulpits!

I don't know which seems sillier: a smoker in a gym or a communist in a church.
