Obama believes women should register for draft
Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama may not have drafted a woman to be his running mate, as his rival John McCain has, but he does believe that America's young women should be eligible for the military

draft and possibly combat duty.

"I think that if women are registered for service … I think it will help to send a message to my two daughters that they've got obligations to this great country as well as boys do," said Obama in a debate last year.

Lighten up boys, you guys all talk so tough on this forum, like a bunch of school boys trying to impress each other in the 5th grade. I assume that none of you will be voting for a ticket that would allow a potential for a woman CIC? That means you will either vote for Obama or stay home November 4th?

But it is a leftist "anti-war" Democrat who hypocritically wants to draft women. You don't see anything wrong with that picture? Why would a so-called anti-war president want the draft at all?

I'll likely be voting for McCain, General. Mostly because Palin is on the ticket. How about you?

Christiana,- no, I am not from Iowa or Nebraska, and yes, I am a woman, one who disagrees with feminism and stands firm in every word breathed out by the Lord.

EA,

Are you a woman? Could you possibly be someone that I know, originally from Iowa, but now in Nebraska?

You sound familiar, and I did recommend SA to a friend in a Christmas card, but haven't talked with since. Could that be you?

Lt. where in my prior post did I specify God stating women should not be in the military? Those were not my direct words, it would not be wise to say God said something and not back it with a passage from His word. You would do well to read Genesis.
What makes you think we are all 'boys'?
Feminism and being true to God's word do not mix.

1] "Sir" is the correct salutation for a commissioned officer which I believe should be male.

2] Where in Scripture does God suggest that women should join the military?

3] Emphasising their masculine side does not really respond to the issue at hand.

4] Now who is name calling sir?

BTW I did serve in the military (Navy) which is precisely where I formed my empirical opinion on this.

But the real problem today is this PC cross-gender obsession of liberal thinking, which is destroying marriage and family, traditional values and all authority, not to mention worshipping mammon. This does not bode well for our nations future and our kids.

The draft, whether of men or women, is unbiblical manstealing by the state:]]The Bible and the Draft

The American draft was first instituted by the supposedly "freedom-loving" Confederates. The North later had its draft too, but was far less aggressively enforced.

It amazes me how flag-waving "conservatives" who claim to love freedom can support a vast peacetime military, a feature of authoritarian regimes (e.g. France, Prussia) which used to be abhorrent to English-speaking people. The military is a socialistic welfare state in miniature. Note, many defense factories are still gov't-owned & contractor-operated.

Well, to put a fine point on it, I --do-- agree with my pastor's position on women, ]]Instruction to Wives, Mothers & Their Husbands--A Study of Women’s Roles. I guess I can leave it at that.

Gil Rugh said or, wrote:
God created man - male and female with a divine, creative purpose. He created them distinct, to function together as one with each having roles and responsibilities. There is a distortion in the world to destroy their differences, making them alike in the way they carry out the affairs of daily life. This greatly affects the way men and women conduct themselves, which proves a great hindrance to their ability to live life to the fullest, enjoying the blessings and benefits God would provide. As is always the case, God's way is best and most suitable for men and women.... To choose to rebel against God's unchanging, timeless will doesn't change each persons accountability. The consequences will be brought to bear upon each one - upon each life - without culture, circumstances or lifestyle being cause for adjusting God's standards....

First: Ashlar, you calling me "Sir" is indicative of a "name calling" mentality. I am a soldier therefore I must be androgenous. My husband finds me quite feminine.
Second: Enough Already, where in Scripture does God forbid women in the military?
Third: Kenny, you want to know what girls can do better than boys in defense of our country? I can name dozens of women I know in the Military Police who can show you one on one to your dismay, trust me.
Fourth: Mike, it isn't a leftist Democrat running a woman as VP this year it's old blood and guts McCain.
Fifth: Mike, (again) yes I made a punctuation error, but after all I'm just a silly girl.

If my denomination (the SBC) can OK a woman CIC, they can OK a woman combat soldier, sailor, or airman. Unless, of course they require her husband to give his permission! Choke it down boys.
Is Obama prepared to go into combat? Please, General. btw, where is So, Carolina?

Obama, the "anti-war" candidate shows his true liberal colors by wanting women to be drafted for possible combat. This has happened before. The Democrats put on an "anti-war" mask, but propose to draft women. I think telling the truth might actually bring them great distress. So they don't.

Yes, this is just what we need. Let's send our women off to fight our wars for us. Many of them are already out earning a living for their husbands anyway so why not.

The idea of women in combat is absolutely disgusting. What kind of feminized, wussified nation hands a gun to a woman to fight? And what in the world kind of woman would want to go into combat or even be in the military? Women don't need to be in the military and the military doesn't need women, regarless of what Lt. General What's-Her-Name says. What exactly is it that a woman has to offer the defense of our country that a man can't do more effectively? The U.S. military is not a social program or a make-work entity like the government schools.

Obama can send his daughters into battle if he wants to but he's not sending mine.

I can not believe we are the verge of electing an obvious socialist, probable Marxist and maybe Muslim to the presidency.

Lt. Gen. Coles, your comment, 'if my denomination can ok a woman...' says much. When does any denomination have a right to override the Holy Word of God? God's word does not change, we as a society have changed and made up our own set of rules as we go. Women, by God's ordaining, were initially meant to work in the home, but feminism and our 'modern society' have negated most of what God ordained. It isn't about equality, it is about understanding the God-given roles to both men and women, how they differ, yet compliment one another and bring balance to the family.

Lt.Gen (Sir);
The first word in your post is "IF"
That qualifies and presupposed your committment to the ideology behind this article.

However not everybody agrees with the way modern society is changing traditional rules of gender role and function.

My position is not just the objection to women working in new roles today, it is that other necessary roles are suffering because of this. EG: the institution of marriage and motherhood.

The point is not that women "can't" - that is not what we say. Just as female preachers can speak, articulate and communicate from a pulpit; - BUT will God use them in that role??? I believe not. Their purpose as the mother of the nation is paramount to good organisation of family and hence society. Society today is changing in many ways, not all good and many very bad. Authority of these traditional family roles will be lost to the detriment of our nations at large.
