In response to media speculation, Focus on the Family (FOTF) posted a statement on its website this weekend titled ‚ÄúDr. Dobson: 'What I Think About Harry Potter.'‚ÄĚ
In the statement, the conservative pro-family ministry explained that FOTF founder Dr. James Dobson has never endorsed books or films from the megahit fantasy series, and that many papers mistakenly reported that he had given them an OK for Christian families.
The posting directly confronts the Washington Post, which published an article about what Christians think of the craze, and how the reporter had incorrectly assumed that Dobson favored the boy wizard....
I have said it before and I will say it again: I believe James Dobson has done more harm to the cause of Christ and Christian families than any other single man in the past 25 years. His psychologizing, compromise, self-esteem teaching and wussification of men has been devastating. I am constantly amazed at the power and influence he has over folks.
I accidentally stumbled onto his radio show twice this week and both times there was some silly, dingbat woman and her Dobsonized, feminized husband instructing everyone to have 'codewords' to let their kids know when it's time to get lost so they (the grownups) can have sex.
I would not be surprised at anything James Dobson says, does or endorses.
Coach 438, That's a nice calm post: clear and even-handed, right to the point. My, but some of the posters here (note the one below yours) seem crazy. Not that AntiVaticanist's beliefs are crazy, but his rhetoric is certainly startling.
We read HP7 the day it came out, enjoyed it, and went on with our lives, and have forgotten about it. Nothing changed. The world-wide pervasive worship of evolutionism, on the other hand, is a daily problem everywhere. Funny thing is, if Dr. Dobson and other well-known Christians jumped where they belong (on the 6-day bandwagon), they could lead others who are weak in faith.
Who cares! Harry Potter - Are you kidding? Much ado about nothing. Let's here Dobson renounce evolution. Does Dobson believe the Bible or does he believe that God is an incompetant fool who has to cross his fingers and hope that chance and time will magically produce life out of non-life and then magically cause life to leap species. Yeah, I said "magically" Dr. Potter..er..Dobson.
Okay, so New-Evangelical James Dobson Renounces "Harry Potter"; yet he continually practices Harry Potter's SORCERY by NOT RENOUNCING The Satanic Vatican or The Hellish Roman "Catholic" Cult--Let alone RENOUNCE The Demon/Devil Inspired & Lead Roman/Vaticanist "White"-Papacy (i.e. Nazi/Hitler-Youth Pope-Benedict-RATzinger-XVI); as well as the Politically-Manipulating "BLACK POPE"/"Jesuit"-General, HANS KOLVENBACH (KLOVEN-HOOF)! ! ! ! ! !
Just like Nazi/Hitler-Youth POPE BENEDICT-JOE RATziner-XVI PUBLICLY RENOUNCES SODOMITE/PEDOPHILE VATICANIST PRIESTS WITHIN THE SATANIC ROMAN "CATHOLIC" CULT OF POPISH "JESUITIC" VATICANISM; YET, PRIVATELY STILL MAKES "EROS" EVERY MORNING (AND/OR EVERY CHANCE HE CAN GET !) WITH HIS 24-YEAR-OLD SODOMITE-"GAY" 'LOVER' ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
i work for amazon.com that is selling harry potter books last friday night we were offered T-shirts i thought they were company shirts BUT they were HP7 meaning harry potter, so another Christian and I walked out and refused the free shirts, i spoke out loud and said "HP promotes witchcraft & the occult and that the books are of the devil"(walked out=left the room ,didnt quit job)
Why all the debate...? I have been a Christian since 1980, and by reading the Holy Scriptures, I knew that James Dobson was a false teacher. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prohets are gone out into the world. ... I John 1:1-6 Your names are either written in Heaven or they are written in the earth.
Nearly Headless Nick, Peeves, and Bathilda Bagshot are all in agreement with me that if a parent is not sure his child can tell the difference between fantasy fiction, occult danger, and true religion, this parent needs someone like Dr. "Six-Day-Creation-is-a-lie" Dobson to take his hand and lead him to really quality stuff like the Left Behind series, or, for the truly intellectual among these children, perhaps The Last Battle, by Lewis in which we learn that it doesn't matter whether you believe in Aslan or Tash, as long as you truly believe (Tashlan, for the unread). That's like saying--and pardon me here--it doesn't matter whether you serve Dumbledore or Voldemort, as long as you fight for someone. Huh? Perhaps they fear the Quidditch games, because someone might get hurt, but my guess is this is something they can get riled up about that won't lose them any points among their vast ecumenical following. Dobson speaking out against the Pope lately, or the general apostasy of America, hmmm?
So now Dobson claims that the first 11 books of Genesis are merely poetry and not reality........that's just like Billy Graham saying once on Larry King Live that he didn't believe in Hell. WOW!!! Steer clear of those people.......do not let them influence you in anyway because they allow politics to influence what they believe.
Also when Tammy Faye Baker was being interviewed just recently on Larry King Live, ( I wonder if Larry King will ever submit to the righteousness of Christ Jesus? ), he asked her "did the doctors tell you have much time you have left"? to which she responded "no I don't want to know, I don't what my faith level to go down"...........what???? I would think as a Born-Again believer that that would make your faith level sky rocket because you will finally be delivered from this crummy world!
Dr Dobson, Chuck Colson, and Focus On The Family ties to Roman Catholicism through ECT (Evangelicals And Catholics Together) 1, 2, and 3 in light of recent statements by Pope Benedict in regards to the Castholic Church being the only true church leave me wondering about Dobson & Colsons ulterior motives. They also are strong supporters of Bush and the Iraq disaster - they share in the blame for encouraging Bushs Insanity in Iraq.David Cloud confronted Dr Dobson on several issues from Dobsons claim that the first 11 books of Genesis are Poetry and not reality to his Roman Catholic ties the following article has copies of David Clouds letters and contacts to Dr Dobson http://www.wayoflife.org/otimothy/tl110007.htm
Take this with a grain of salt. Remember Focus on the Family is a "ministry partner" of one2believe.com which makes the Jesus action figures Wal-Mart is selling. Focus wasn't perfect, but it seems like they have gone all the way downhill in the past few years.
