bonus consultum wrote: This proved necessary because of the unBiblical practices and fallacious doctrines of the Roman Catholic heresy. Roman Catholic teaching and convictions remain today as unBiblical as ever and therefore identify themselves as unChristian to the Bible believer. For 1,000 years before the Reformation, 10,000s of Roman Catholic monks and priests, despite taking upwards of twenty years to produce a single manuscript, faithfully, prayerfully and lovingly hand-copied the Bible text. These men and their texts are so trusted that both the KJV and NAS/NIV streams lean on them for their translations. If these copyists were of evil intent, why didn't they spend these 1,000 years burning the few old and changing the new Bible texts to match the Church's doctrines on Mary, prayer to the saints, etc? Why would the universal RCC emerge into a 16th c. technological world with a mechanically-printed Bible text which doesn't seem to perfectly undergird its doctrines? If the text did perfectly align with the Church's teaching, after 2,000 years of experience, perhaps this would be even more suspicious. |
