Terry, my point about Matt 5 is that the Father is actually GOOD to the just and the unjust. And we need to be too if we are to be like Him. A harsh, hateful tone is not going to win anyone. (your tone is least that way.) I agree with your the Biblical points ...but I don't have enough information to judge Rick. Sex is the main way of transmission. There needs to be places that can support people in changing lifestyles. A church service is not enough. There very few churches in some places. People may need vocational training so they have income sources other than prostitution. I feel like the conference is trying to bring people together to talk about things they can do like that worldwide...but that does not mean Rick is putting down preaching or excluding preaching. Rick is not saying Hillary is a Christian...again, Hillary is not the only person invited. That was my complaint. The title is misleading AND inflammatory...witness the reactions of most the post-ers. Exodus International converts many "sodomites". But they also say hateful rhetoric never changes a "sodomite". Honestly, I believe all the things about sin...but again, how we can be more like Jesus...and less like his worst enemies...the p-h-a-r-i-s-e-e-s. I will stir no more... |

First of all thanks to Terry for the heads up on the quote thing. kenny wrote: What AIDS issue? They (we all) know exactly what causes AIDS. They (we all) know exactly how it spreads. They (we all) know exactly how to stop it dead in it's tracks. Kenny, I totally agree with the first three sentences of your "What AIDS issue?"But, what if some others could be convinced of the same? People that don't have that opinion now? That is what Rick is trying to do. To the rest of the post: Matthew 5:43-48. Do we condemn the sodomites to hell before they die? Could we become like Jesus who ate with prostitutes and tax collectors... AND still be able to say, in front of them "I have come to call sinners to repentance." Or "Woman your sins are forgiven." in away that made them feel drawn even though told they had sin? Terry in answer...AIDS is epidemic, in places like Africa and India. Many non-homosexuals are infected. Rick Warren's church is involved in other "mercy ministries" through various programs. What if we ministered to the homosexuals by showing them we value them as humans created in the image of God even though we hate their sin? |

I don't know how to use the copy and paste thing so will have to type everything...Terry Evans mentions "knowing them by their fruit"...I totally agree... but would go back to your post of 11/21. " ever wonder what spirit is the most prevelant on this site, and why?" There seems to be a lot of emotional, judgement here... which leads to Dessie's "Wake UP!" with the ugly face comment... I am not sure why that was necessary... even if we disagree. How can we interact with anyone if we immediately flame them? My original observation that the title of the article was misleading, was not even addressed... As far as the comment about "keeping our beliefs away from our life, ..." that is exactly what I am trying to address. Judgmental, snide remarks will not touch any heart...we have got to incorporate our pro-life ideals into all our actions with our people. The anger of man does not work the righteousness of God. God hates sin...God judges sin...God will punish sinners...I agree with all these things... BUT, what do we make of Matthew 5:43-48 in the mean time? Anytime we become judge and jury ...we are treading on dangerous ground. If we cannot be loving AND clear at the same time (see verse 45)...I sincerely believe we are walking in the wrong spirit... |

The title of this article is misleading. I was totally heated then I clicked on the link and found that most if not all of the presidential contenders are invited!! Most of the people that posted comments seem to have totally missed that bit of information. I dislike Hillary and all that she stands for. But in the real world we often have to work out issues with our "enemies". In fact, a famous book that I read says "love your enemies, pray for those who spitefully use you." All Rick Warren is doing is trying to create a place to work on the AIDS issue. To work out real world solutions to real world issues. He is not saying anything about any of the candidates belief systems...it is an AIDS conference, not his Sunday morning service. BTW, Abigail, do you know how much Rick Warren personally makes per year? Do you know what he did concerning his salary and his book royalties? Thank you Kevin for your thoughts... I pray that all of us will learn that we will be judged with the same judgment we use. Not justifying sin...but being very careful how hastily we slam some one (or stone them as may be the case.) |

Everyone...PLEASE lets not return evil for evil EVEN IF this person was a Muslim... Jesus Himself said love your ENEMIES, pray for those that persecute you. IF we really EXPECT to touch these people for the Lord Jesus we are going to have to PROVE that we are DIFFERENT!!!All the persecution stories that end in conversions involve LOVING the tormentor...EVEN IF this guy was a Muslim, VILIFYING him and going of half cocked will NOT change any Muslims hearts for Christ. PLEASE...let's try to model the Savior we claim to embrace...I beg of you... |
