Worship. Roman Catholic style.

Is worship for the RC any different to veneration of relics, saints etc?

What does the person bring to the object of his worship? Sin, flesh, mind, heart, knowledge, ideology.

This being so is there any real difference between what the RC believes they bring to God - AND what they bring to idol's and relics et al?

They refer to words; Latria - worship of God. Dulia worship of saints etc. But how do they actually
separate them in the heart of the follower? And is there any discernable and realistic difference in the person?

In worship God commands and demands 100 percent of His disciple, - in worship, love and the fear of God.

The RC by dividing his heart and mind into some for God and some for relics etc, Thus ROB God of what is His due, and His alone. Therefore they do not worship God but bring Him down to the level of graven images, relics and dead bodies.

The Roman Catholic sins against God, Christ and the Holy Spirit and indeed blaspheme against the Holy Name of God.

"And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own TRADITION" Mk 7.9

"But IN VAIN they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men" Mat 15.9.

"Collins Dictionary experts have compiled a list of words which have fallen out of use"

Not a good idea since it is usually the uncommon words not in use which we look for in the Dictionary.

There has been quite a few words which I have looked for when reading for example old Puritan books and the like, the modern dictionaries have been NO help, so I keep a stock of 'old' dictionaries.

"Pope Benedict XVI isn't due until Thursday..."

"Historically, the orthodox Christian church has condemned the papacy as anti-Christian. The papacy is not only not Christian, but also blatantly anti-Christian. The Popes of Rome are not saints, not holy fathers, but advocates for the Father of Lies. They hold one of the highest chairs of darkness under the Devil himself in contrast to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ and His righteousness. John 8:44, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do.” Like the devil, the Popes of the Roman Catholic Church lie to their sheep, and tell them that they can work their way into heaven because the Pope, the Vicar of Christ on earth, understands the Scriptures to teach such guidance for faith and practice. Christ is not enough. Men must do their part as well. Christ is simply not enough. (Compare these thoughts with the Roman dogma found in the sections on Justification in the Council of Trent and the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.)" (Dr C.Matthew McMahon)(A Puritans Mind)

""One of Christendom's most prominent atheist advocates is the Italian philosopher and politician Marcello Pera. In 2004, he delivered a series of lectures with then-Cardinal Ratzinger that set out their shared view of the need to restore Christian identity""

The quote, "shared views" of the atheist and the Roman Catholic!! Now that says it all doesn't it?

They would restore something called "Christian identity" - ONLY at the cost of Biblical Christianity since the atheist cannot read Scripture AND the Roman Catholic cannot read Scripture. The Vatican proves to be as subtle as Satan.

"The Church the Pope is talking about in his letter to the Cardinal Miloslav Vlk is not the true church of Jesus Christ but his very own the Catholic Church. And when he says THE CHURCH he means the POPE!! So the Pope himself is the key to the European Union.

The Pope cannot compromise or change. He will not compromise or change. After declaring that churches outside of his are not considered to be churches, he now speaks of respect, toleration and brotherhood. When he brushes aside dialogue between the Church of Rome and the Protestant Churches, as he has done recently, how can he ‘co-operate with’ this variety of spiritual differences, which he identifies?." (Dr. Ian Paisley)

"Europe's nonreligious conservatives have found ready allies in the continent's religious leaders -- most notably Pope Benedict XVI."

Yes you can trust the papal antichrist to attach himself to anything religious and nonreligious to further his historic ends of destroying true Biblical Christianity.

The reformed commentators were correct in describing the Pope as the "Beast" of Revelation.

Thats why the Roman Catholics are very "anti-Sola Scriptura" since the Bible interferes with their REAL AUTHORITY the UNBiblical "traditions of the popish enterprise."

"A careful study of prophecy and world history shows us that Papal Rome grew out of Imperial Rome. In Daniel chapter seven we have the foretelling of the rise of four great world empires.
Each of these great empires is represented by a particular beast."

"The 'little horn' of verse 8 is also said to have 'a mouth, speaking great things'. These 'great things' are blasphemies. This is confirmed by verse 25. The more the Papacy developed the more offensive to God it became.
Emerging as she did from Imperial Rome, she assimulated much of the Paganism of that empire."
(Rev Kyle Paisley)

And Vatican Rome continues to assimulate paganism today for its ongoing anti-Christian satanic purpose.

"Labour Party leaders have tied the riots to the “austerity” policies of Prime Minister David Cameron’s Tory government"

Trust the socialists to come up with that rubbish. The riots started off with a suspected drug dealer shot - Is that austerity measures.

What followed was anarchists, criminals and louts joining together to attack authority and steal whatever they could lay their sticky little fingers on.

The riots are not political or economic or any other type of philosophy. They are just wicked and criminal people indulging in a sinful rampage to see how much they can get away with. And some of them, will get away with their crimes, even if some do get caught and dealt with.

Signs of a lawless society.

Thus signs of a Godless society.

Delighted to see you agree with Bennett that salvation is "the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." (Eph 2:8,9)
When I was sitting here reading that Bennett paragraph it went through my old brain cell that, - Mike if he saw that post would jump on it for just that purpose.

Great minds think alike...

Except on Eph 2:8 where God teaches us that Faith, "His gift" would be provided to His elect for the purposes of salvation.

Its wet wet wet over here in Scotland, the harvest is getting soaked, hows the New York state?

soundly-saved
"Salvation by Grace Alone Denied by Catholic Sacramental System - That salvation is by God’s grace alone must be clearly understood. Unredeemed sinners, all of whom are “dead in trespasses and sins”, can only be saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone because salvation is “the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast”. It is God who graciously saves by His unmerited free gift. In total contrast to this, salvation in the Catholic Church is said to come about by “grace” that is merely a “help” with the intention that people will respond. Thus, the Catholic Church officially states, “Grace is the help God gives us to respond to our vocation of becoming his adopted sons. It introduces us into the intimacy of the Trinitarian life”. (Cat. 2021) In this view, human beings are presumed to be good enough to respond to the help that God gives to them. According to the Catholic Church, grace is not a manifestation of God’s sovereign action in salvation but merely a “help” given to humans that they may respond, should they decide to believe. The Catholic teaching contradicts the very concept of grace. As the Scripture states, “and if by grace, then is it [salvation] no more of works" (R.Bennett)

b) how could I be anything other than totally elect

a) Nobody, Nobody, Nobody who was really saved would ever "convert" to worshipping graven images, relics and uncle Tom Cobley and all that silly junk! THE BIBLE RECORDS THE LORD'S ABHORRENCE OF IDOLATRY.

b) Thats the same kind of declaration made by the church at Matt 7:21-23...
"21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Christ does not welcome, admit, accommodate nor entertain idolators, such as Roman Catholics.

Your religion, rites and rituals are idolatrous and blasphemous. If you really were saved then you would perceive these truths in Scripture.

Gal 5:20 IDOLATRY, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,..... they which do such things shall NOT inherit the kingdom of GOD!

Saved??
Works based religion - Does not work!!

By Dr. Ian R.K. Paisley ...
"The question of Good Works is one of infinite moment. On this subject, Popery and the Gospel teach a very different doctrine: the Pope teaches that "our good works do merit eternal life, as worthy not only by reason of God's covenant and acceptation, but also by reason of the work itself." Such is the view of Bellarmine a Popish author of great distinction; and another of equal eminence, puts the point still more tersely. Vasquez has laid it down that "the good works of just persons are, of themselves, without any covenant or acceptation, worthy of the reward of eternal life." The error here is deep and deadly."

"I shall prove three propositions; first, that in the Romish system, the individual is blind; second, that he is superstitious; third, that he is poor" (Paisley) ]]HERE!

If there is only one Faith why didn't the Founding Fathers plainly state this in the Constitution? Instead we have a smorgasbord also known as "freedom of religion."

You could go even deeper Bibliophile, for example I don't include the salvation by works faith of the Papal antichrists followers either.

There is only one Faith and it is the gift of God for His Elect. Eph 2:8.

"Land suggests to Christians that they should respect all faiths. However, he also clarifies that does not mean Christians must also accept and support different doctrines."

There is only one Faith!

What Jesus remarked about the 'other' religion....
Matt 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! FOR YE SHUT UP THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN AGAINST MEN: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, HYPOCRITES! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a PRETENCE make LONG PRAYER: therefore ye shall receive the GREATER DAMNATION.
15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the CHILD OF HELL than yourselves.
16 Woe unto you, ye BLIND GUIDES, ....."

"We need strong families instilling children with values of personal responsibility. It is high time our political leaders stopped undermining marriage and the family"

And so we do!!
But is it too late for the UK?

Murder of the unborn child carried out remorselessly by this society.
Morals now come from homosexuals, described by God as an abomination.
The national Churches CofS/CofE are no more Christian than Satan is, indeed Satan wouldn't dare challenge God to the extent these hypocrites do daily.
Adultery is not only rife but has become a pastime in parts of society.
Government legislates in favour of evil practices.
Bishops reject the Word and the Law of God and clearly cannot identify sin.

Therefore the riots are a natural activity in a lawless society.

Prov 29:16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

Jim; Yahweh is also most likely an incorect transliteration - since there is no 'W' sound in Hebrew.

The Article topic::
Ro 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men..."

Change the Bible and you can write your own book, invent your own religion, and Liberalism will do the rest. Namely prove that you are hell bound.

"congregations should connect their acts of praise and worship to the declaration of God’s wonderful acts about which they hear from the pulpit.”

Trueman here seems to be encouraging some sort of "charismatic" type response. He also appears to be putting an onus upon preachers which is irrelevant, indeed almost theatrical.

I have found that "acts of praise" are different in individuals and also different respnses come from different nations. For example a Scottish congregations response is different from an American one. The Scots tend to be quiet and subdued throughout the sermon.

""Perry's audience Saturday was filled with people who sang with arms outstretched in prayer — and wept — as Christian groups played music on stage. And Perry, himself, huddled on the stage in a prayer circle with several ministers who helped lead the event. It was Perry's idea and was financed by the American Family Association, a Tupelo, Miss.-based group that opposes abortion and gay rights and believes that the First Amendment freedom of religion applies only to Christians.""

Looks as though Perry and co put on a good show. A good Charismatic show!!

Sigh...I am so tired of seeing churches struggle concerning this. The Bible is plain and consistent in its teaching that sodomy is a sin. Those to fail to repent of it will not inherit the kingdom of God. But thank the Lord repentance is possible (I Cor. 6:9-11).
LV
The trouble with these 'Liberal' churches is that they find ways round the Bible being the Word of God. For example we have those who suggest the Bible "contains" the Word of God thus implying it also contains the word of men. The next step is to decide that if man wrote XYZ in Scripture thousands of years ago, then we being the same - but more intelligent today - we can change the relevant verses because we know better. In this way we would not discriminate against the poor old sodomite.

The underlying problem then becomes "Who wrote the Bible? God or men?"

Psalm 119:144 The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
152 Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever."

Jesus said:: "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Mat 5:18.

Doesn't "economics" come under God's providence anyway?

Thus God is refusing to bless the western nations due to their rejection of Bible, church and ultimately God Himself.

"The S&P report says: "The political brinkmanship of recent months highlights what we see...."

Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black?
Standard and Poor being a financial services company is more culpable of the "Global Recession" than any of the politicians are.

Yes there was "politicking" going on in the recent debate - But that is the nature of politicians especially when you get them together in two opposing groups.
