Mike,

1. I use e-sword and the KJV
I acknowledge the headings are added however I have two witnesses that Jesus Christ is Lord of the sabbath in the word's of 2 e-sword commentators JFB - and MH
For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day — JFB - "In what sense now is the Son of man Lord of the sabbath day? Not surely to abolish it - that surely were a strange lordship, especially just after saying that it was made or instituted for MAN - but to own it, to interpret it, to preside over it, and to ennoble it, by merging it in the “Lord’s Day” (Rev_1:10), breathing into it an air of liberty and love necessarily unknown before, and thus making it the nearest resemblance to the eternal sabbatism."

I understand Mat 12:8  For the Son of man is Lord 'even of' the sabbath day; to mean Jesus Christ is Lord of all. Not all days of the week only, but all things. All things created, sustained and in particular redeemed.

MHCC on Matt 12:1-8 in part "The resting on the sabbath was ordained for man's good, Deu_5:14. No law must be understood so as to contradict its own end. And as Christ is the Lord of the sabbath, it is fit the day and the work of it should be dedicated to him."

Neither we, nor our teachers agree as regards the Christian Sabbath/Lord's Day.

Because I believe syncretism (the combination of different forms of belief or practice) gives an unclear sound, I spent the better part of my day avoiding it, for the sake of a clear sound to my loved ones and friends.

I partook of a simple and excellent meal alone then came here for human dialogue.

What stumbles me: Love is the fulfilling of the law, (Romans 13:10). Jesus Christ fulfilled it perfectly. He told us in the gospel account that he is LORD of the sabbath. That means he has the authority to make his resurrection of the utmost significance, see Romans 1:1-5

It is not insignificant that he appears to his disciples on the first day of the week after his resurrection. Unless there is no need for sanctification or being more and more conformed to the Lord Jesus Christ; I for one would rejoice if every LORD's Day the News (practice of the other 6 days) was suspended and the same reverence shown for traditional holy days was given to the one we know we are to "Remember" to keep it holy according to the Scripture. If on the Lord's Day this was a place for the poor scattered sheep to focus upon the Scripture and work toward greater unity of mind and belief in the truth it would
be a great mercy. Syncretism in any form, greatly hinders.

The Quiet Christian wrote:
How this story relates to the current political situation in the US is beyond me.
QC I have a prayer Notebook that is 20+ years old. Entitled Prayer for Africa.
It being next to where I was reading this, I looked at it. The eastern section of the DRC (French speaking) borders Uganda and Rwanda, Kenya borders to the east of those. The Northern border of all those nations is the Sudan. In 1998 the US Embassy in Kenya was bombed, the nation retaliated upon Sudan. This was post genocide in Uganda and Rwanda. Recently the terrorist status of the Sudan was removed. This travesty was attributed to the ADF. Their response "cannot react to this nonsense."

James, I don't think anyone was saying we should give up on evangelism. What I concluded 1. What hope the Scripture holds out to the nations. 2. It is fair and just to demand that Christianity is adequate to meets the needs of men, when this is evidenced by the effects it has upon their power to do good toward individuals and society. 3. The claim of being the universal religion must show its superior ability to meet the needs of humanity in all relationships. John 13:34,35; Rom 13:10; 1 Joh 2:3,4; Rom 2:12-29 They can't all be right.

This is consistant with a number of things that come to mind. I heard Mr. Obama praising Catholic charitiable institutions and stating he'd worked closely with them in Chicago.

I quickly scanned a book that was given to a family member by her local priest. It was very left leaning with an aggressive social agenda.

But Mr. Romney had a priest open in prayer at his weekend campaign rally and quoted from the same Word of God, that tells us we cannot wish him God-speed. What's the difference?

For men shall be lovers of their own selves...Without natural affection...
despisers of those that
are good...lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God...
Having a form of godliness,
but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Yep, that seems to describe a lot of the men who post here:

1. selfish,

2. without natural affection (hate women) and have little or no regard for the unborn, salivate to nuke Muslim families away, worship a god who is the author of evil and condemns people to Hell for what this god caused them to do.

3. despisers of those that are good (like Dwayne, and others)

4. lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God (like Harry Potter, TV, worldly politics, jesting and mocking about nuking people), using SA as a place to jest and blackslap, treating the Bible like a parlor game

5. Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof = (teach apathy and do-nothingism as a virtue, hinder or prevent women from witnessing, make the Bible for "Jews only," and condemn anybody who speaks of the Holy Spirit as heretics, forbid tongues.

From such turn away.

just asking, "since you have lots of praises for Muslims/Arab people, do you mean you will soon be one of them?"

I am one with the Muslims as far as wanting peace for them, to be able to live their lives without American bombs and soldiers.

As far as being one with the likes of you, "just asking," that will never happen. I don't join with bullies with murder in their heart, who hate people because of their sex or because their religion or culture is different.

BTW, there will be no election in 2008, and Bush will become the permanent dictator and there will be marshal law, everyone who can walk will be drafted, and the FEMA camps will be filled with people like me. I know I'm going to be killed and tortured, probably while people like you stand guard.

Our government will pull another false flag, this time either nuking one or more of our cities or spraying biochemicals to kill a lot of us, and blame the Iranians.

That will, I'm sure, give you great pleasure. So meantime, carry on your scintillating discussion here on SA.

________

Lurker, I totally agree with Greeter's advice to Tommy. It was good advice given in a noninsulting way and from true concern I'm sure. How can you disagree with one word he said?

This culture is sick, the whole thing. TV has ruined us, just a propaganda and corrupting tool for Satan to make people obsessed with sex and thrills and feeling good and looking good.

Meantime, the things that are really important, family, and loyalty, and children, and being a decent person -- what is that? Apparently nothing. It's almost impossible to raise your children successfully with this evil culture all around.

Everybody is so selfish, just concerned with themselves and getting a thrill, with playing a role and feeling important.

It's all about feelings, the wrong kind of feelings, feelings that end up leaving a person empty and frustrated and terribly sad.

The remedy to all the corrupting lies is truth, truth, and more truth, come down to earth and embrace reality, not the glittering lies of Satan.

Jesus is truth. It's all about truth.

The Arabian people are more pure, less selfish and more caring of each other. The more people stay away from TV the better off they will be. The world's culture is all lies and corruption just like the Bible says.

Tommy and Bravo, don't feel bad. A lot of the men that post on this board don't like women either, and a lot of them do to their wives the same things the homos do to each other. They heap emotional abuse on the women here all the time, try to make the Bible off-limits, as though the Bible were written only to men. The only part of the Bible they think women need to read is the part about keeping silent in the church. They don't want women posting on this forum because they think that's breaking the command to keep silent in the church. They mock us for the way God made us for bearing children, and pretty much despise us.

If you go through the forum titles you'll see lots of topics, all put up by men, about how the men think women should dress and act.

One time we were discussing Gail Riplinger's book, and somebody posted a fake intro to her book, making her out to be a nut, just to be mean.

I doubt the Arabs treat women so badly. The Arabs love their wives and children, and they don't look at porn and don't fornicate. The Arab men are virgins when they marry, just like the women.

And most of the men on this forum hate the Arabs and want to nuke them away.
