Satisfyingly Beautiful Instills a worshipful spirit. So true and good for the soul. So beautiful about our God. He is to be praised in our thoughts and the whole of life.
Thank you pastor McCurley. Thank God.
Stirring Sermon! Truly a sermon that inclines our affections towards our Redeemer and the desires to be with God. Just his presence, no activity on His part, just his presence is settling. And Lord, please haste the day ...
Alarming Message! Noah preached 120 years warning of God's judgment. Zephaniah around 621 pre incarnation, etc. This message was preached in 2008. And today, 2021, we are crying out to the Lord to deliver us from this present evil world. Our hearts are overwhelmed with the constant bombardment of news about the ungodly. How long O Lord? How long? The floods of sinful behavior of unbelievers are becoming too much. We know that we are under your divine judgment. Still we ask for you to extend mercy upon the people and pour out your spirit of repentance. Do this so that they can see your glory and know that you are forgiving and kind. Do this for your Son's sake. He has done great things for us. We ask for him to be honored among the peoples. Thank you Father for all you've done.
Great Sermon! Evangelism is neglected. The church is comfortably asleep. Earthen vessels need filling of God’s treasure. False teaching prevails. And we are afraid of the phantom “lion in the streets”
Great Sermon! Lord, haste the day. This is such a comforting devotional. The man Thomas Boston is astoundingly discerning and brings forth deep treasures out of the Word of God that is much needed today
Great Sermon! You are so absolutely right that we need to repent and believe God.
But if the Great Physician, the God that heals, is not exalted in the hearts of his people then there is reason to fear assembling.
We're afraid of dying and attempt to preserve our lives for this world.
Eye Opening Sermon! I mistakingly wrote "... hero behind the veil ... and her eyes to behold ... when it should have been ...'hearer' ... and ... 'their'.
I am so blessed to have you in my life and journey to meet our blessed Saviour.
Great Sermon! Thank you Pastor Holloway. You always take the hero behind the veil. May our God be glorified and may his son be praised for the work he has done. He has opened her eyes to behold his glory. Behind the veil.
Great Sermon! This was an absolutely perfect message. Not just for Easter but for each time we gather. We have been resurrected with the Lord and our lives should reflect it. This is why I listen to you. You are doctrine is sound. And the spirit of the Word is in all of your sermons; converting the soul. May God raises up more like you Pastor Barrett. And may God bless you as much as he has blessed me. However I’ve been to many churches that have the wrong concept of Easter. Again thank you for your response.
Great Sermon! Why do Christians set aside this period to acknowledge Easter as if it's a day designated holy by our Lord? This is not a criticism, but a concern as regarding apostasy & the Whore as mentioned in the Revelation. Here is what Vine says:Easter:
mistranslated "Easter" in Act 12:4, AV, denotes the Passover (RV). The phrase "after the Passover" signifies after the whole festival was at an end. The term "Easter" is not of Christian origin. It is another form of Astarte, one of the titles of the Chaldean goddess, the queen of heaven. The festival of Pasch held by Christians in post-apostolic times was a continuation of the Jewish feast, but was not instituted by Christ, nor was it connected with Lent. From this Pasch the pagan festival of "Easter" was quite distinct and was introduced into the apostate Western religion, as part of the attempt to adapt pagan festivals to Christianity. We are to live as resurrected pilgrims in this life.
To me celebrating this as an annual day of holiness is much like celebrating Christmas. It is tine we preach on living the practical resurrected life. We need to be able to answer questions others have about our holy days. God bless you.
Easter: Pagan?? Pastor Holloway, I love your teaching/preaching and I trust your input; not many others. So I come to you with this question not as a criticism. But why is this acknowledged as a holy day?
According to Vine - Easter: mistranslated "Easter" in Act 12:4, AV, denotes the Passover (RV). The phrase "after the Passover" signifies after the whole festival was at an end. The term "Easter" is not of Christian origin. It is another form of Astarte, one of the titles of the Chaldean goddess, the queen of heaven. From this Pasch the pagan festival of "Easter" was quite distinct and was introduced into the apostate Western religion, as part of the attempt to adapt pagan festivals to Christianity.
Encouraging Sermon! This teaching of God's word is absolutely beneficial to the Christian's life. It establishes the thoughts that causes rest in and upon Christ alone. The historical content is valuable as an example of what this life, in this fallen world, has and will ever be until our Lord returns. Thank you again for your time well spent in studying to rightly divide the Word of Truth.
